Hobby Brings Alvin Tanady to Achieve Success in NUDC and KDMI Debate Competitions
Achievements of UNPRI Faculty of Economics Students
Medan - Not many students like to participate in debate competitions, because debate competitions require broad and in-depth knowledge. But Alvin Tanady, a student of the Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics, Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) Medan, actually has a hobby of debating. According to him, debating is an adrenaline-pumping activity to exchange opinions in discussing a topic from different perspectives, between one party and another, until reaching an agreement and accepting each other.
Since 2022 until now, Alvin has been interested in participating in debate competitions. In 2024, Alvin managed to achieve the achievement of "The Best Speaker" ranked 13th out of 224 participants in the 2024 National University Debating Championship (NUDC) event held at the Open University in the South Tangerang area by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.
Also in 2024, Alvin will participate in the Indonesian Student Debate Competition (KDMI) held at Ciputra University in Surabaya, and will be awarded the title of “2nd Best Accredited Judge”.
“When I take part in the competition, I often feel nervous and afraid of failing, but as long as I am confident, I will definitely be able to get through it,” he said. In addition to taking part in the competition, Alvin also takes part in activities on the UNPRI campus, including IISMA. “From the results of this activity, I will leave for the Himalaya University in October 2024. I am also actively involved in activities outside campus, such as teaching English extracurricular activities at several schools in Medan City,” he admitted.
To new and prospective new UNPRI students, Alvin hopes that there will always be new innovations and creativity for the next generation, and that they can continue to make achievements at the national and international levels.
“Without courage, there is no victory. Without struggle there is no success. Birds are not afraid of falling because the branches are fragile, but birds are more worried about their wings. Let's join us at Universitas Prima Indonesia, because UNPRI is the best choice," he concluded.
