To Encourage Students to Be Work-Ready, UNPRI and BBPVP Hold Project-Based Learning
Collaboration between UNPRI and BBPVP to Improve Student Competence
Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI), in collaboration with the Center for Vocational Training & Productivity (BBPVP), officially opened the Project-Based Learning (PBL) program. The opening ceremony was held at the 10th Floor of the UNPRI Mini Hall on Monday, September 15, 2025.
The event was opened by the Rector of UNPRI, represented by Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si. M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, attended by the Head of BBPVP Medan, along with staff and 144 student participants, as well as nine instructors, the heads of student affairs from the faculties and deans.
In the UNPRI & BBPVP Medan PBL Implementation Report by Haposan Lumbantoruan, S.Pd., M.Psi (Head of the UNPRI CEDC Bureau), it was explained that the purpose of the activity was to align the PBL objectives between Universitas Prima Indonesia and BBPVP Medan, and to determine project themes/topics relevant to industry needs and student competencies.
"In addition, it also aims to determine the roles and responsibilities of each party (lecturers, BBPVP instructors, students, and external partners), develop an implementation schedule, mentoring mechanisms, and joint evaluations, and identify support facilities, laboratories, and equipment that can be utilized," said Haposan Lumbantoruan, S.Pd., M.Psi.
Meanwhile, the Head of BBPVP Medan, Faried Abdurahman Nur Yuliono, S.STP., M.M., stated that BBPVP Medan implements Project-Based Learning (PBL) as a training method to produce skilled, adaptive, innovative vocational talent who are ready to compete in the job market.
"This activity aims to meet the needs of the business and industrial world and strengthen the contribution of BBPVP Medan in developing competent and productive human resources," said Faried Abdurahman Nur Yuliono. According to him, the spirit of "Vocational for the Nation, Productive for All" is promoted to make PBL a driving force for the birth of a young generation who is ready to work, ready to start a business, and ready to compete in the global era. Several participants said that the PBL program was extraordinary, and hoped that next year there would be another opportunity, many job opportunities, so that UNPRI graduates are truly work-ready.
