The Faculty of Computer Science at FAST-UNPRI Welcomes Inbound Visit from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), Philippines, and USU, Cross-Border Collaboration.
International Collaboration in Technology Development in the Era of AI and Society 5.0

UNPRI, Medan - A lively and warm atmosphere was felt at the Industrial Laboratory of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FAST) of Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI), 18th floor, Main Building, Campus Jalan Sampul No. 3 Medan Petisah, on Friday (10/10/2025). The FAST UNPRI Faculty, which houses seven leading study programs, including Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Visual Communication Design, Architecture, and Civil Engineering, hosted an inbound student visit from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), Philippines, alongside representatives from Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) as part of an international Student Mobility Program.
The event was directly welcomed by Danny Rukmana, M.ST., M.Kom., Vice Dean III of FAST UNPRI, representing the Dean of FAST, Prof. Ir. Bhakti Alamsyah, M.T., Ph.D. In his speech, Danny expressed his gratitude and appreciation to DMMMSU and USU for trusting UNPRI to be part of this international academic collaboration. “This event is a testament to the strong relationship between universities that focus on the development of information technology in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Society 5.0, where humans and technology combine to create an inclusive and sustainable society,” he said.
The DMMMSU delegation consisted of six students: Jorge Jose Abenojar, Ivana Grace Daguison, Jhannedee Anne Fernandez, Eric Brandon Gurion, Santiago Elija Sabulao Jr., and Lein Rhowen Tremor. They were accompanied by Dr. Sheena Sapuay-Guillen, Chairperson of the Bachelor of College of Information Technology, along with representatives from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (Fasilkom-TI) USU, Anandhini Medianty Nababan, S.Kom., M.T., Expert Staff of Vice Dean III, and Muhammad Atqa Adzkia Zaldi, S.T., M.Kom. This visit is part of the Student Mobility Program initiated by USU in collaboration with DMMMSU, as a tangible manifestation of international collaboration to broaden the global horizons of students from both countries in the field of information technology.

The UNPRI side warmly welcomed the delegation. All the academic community of FAST-UNPRI was present to introduce the academic environment of this leading campus, particularly the Bachelor’s Program in Computer Engineering, which hosted the event. The agenda was dynamic, with sessions of introductions, academic discussions, and a tour of the industrial laboratory facilities, showcasing various innovations and student research at UNPRI in the fields of technology and digital industry. The guest students also had the opportunity to discuss directly the development of artificial intelligence-based information systems and data science applications.
Not only did they visit the UNPRI campus, but the student participants of the program also gained valuable experience by visiting the Royal Prima General Hospital on Jalan Ayahanda Medan, a teaching hospital owned by UNPRI. During this visit, they observed firsthand the application of information technology in modern healthcare service systems. UNPRI is known as a campus with the most extensive network of hospitals in Sumatra, which includes one clinic and six hospitals spread across North Sumatra, Jambi, and soon in Riau. This activity provided a concrete picture of the integration of technology with the professional world and UNPRI’s contribution to realizing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and international cooperation.
According to Dr. Yennimar, S.Pd., M.Kom., Head of the Bachelor’s Program in Computer Engineering at FAST-UNPRI, this event is not only an academic gathering but also the first step toward a strategic partnership between UNPRI and DMMMSU. “This event strengthens UNPRI’s position, now accredited as Excellent, as a socio-technopreneurship campus moving toward a ‘World Class University.’ We hope this collaboration is a good start and develops into sustainable cross-border cooperation in education, research, as well as student and faculty exchange programs in the future,” he said optimistically. Currently, UNPRI has also hosted hundreds of international students, proving its existence as a modern, inclusive, and globally-oriented campus. The event concluded with the exchange of souvenirs as a token of remembrance and proof of the visit. (Yd / Datok Yan Djuna – Marketing Communications UNPRI).
