UNPRI and BBPVP Medan Project-Based Learning Officially Concludes, Producing Industry-Standard Job-Ready Talent
Synergy between higher education and vocational training institutions in preparing superior and competitive human resources
UNPRI, Medan - A significant milestone in strengthening student competency was achieved by the leading national private university in socio-technopreneurship, Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI), through the Closing Ceremony of the UNPRI and BBPVP Medan Project Based Learning (PBL). The event took place on Friday (05/12/2025) at the BBPVP Medan Multipurpose Building, marking the end of the vocational competency development and on-job training series for students.
The closing was attended by the Acting Head of BBPVP Medan, Dr. Ir. Abdullah Qiqi Asmara, and the representative of the UNPRI Rector, Haposan Lumbantoruan, S.Pd., M.Psi, as the Head of the UNPRI Career Entrepreneurship Development Center (CEDC). Aris Wahyudi, Expert Staff for Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, was also present to provide motivation and appreciation for the 144 UNPRI students who completed 9 cross-faculty project packages since September 2025.
PBL serves as a project-based learning platform allowing students to tackle real challenges from the Business and Industrial World (DUDI). Participants completed 200 hours of training at UNPRI and 200 hours of on-job training (OJT). Dr. Abdullah Qiqi stated that this method effectively proves students possess real skills. "These projects answer today's industrial challenges and produce innovative works," he said.
The nine project packages included innovations such as Smart Nutrition Systems for hydroponics, Smart Farming, digital logistics, and digital content optimization using Generative AI. The ceremony included the distribution of training certificates, student stipends, and appreciation for the instructors.
Head of CEDC UNPRI, Haposan Lumbantoruan, emphasized that this synergy is a strategic step in preparing adaptive and innovative talents, supporting SDGs 4, SDGs 17. This program also solidifies the MoU implementation between BBPVP and UNPRI, following UNPRI's historic achievement as the first private university in Indonesia to receive IAAHEH International Accreditation.
