Best Campus Derby in Medan: SPARTAN UNPRI Triumphs Over USU Basketball Team in MBA VOL IV Tournament
Taking the First Step Toward the Finals, the Universitas Prima Indonesia Men’s Basketball Team (SPARTAN UNPRI) Secured a Crucial Victory Against the USU Team.
The male basketball team of Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI), famously known as SPARTAN UNPRI, achieved a brilliant start in the prestigious MBA VOL IV Inter-Campus Tournament. In the preliminary round match held on Sunday, February 1, 2026, SPARTAN UNPRI successfully defeated the formidable team from the University of North Sumatra (USU). The high-stakes game took place at the Medan Basketball Arena on Jalan Kapten Sumarsono, Medan.
SPARTAN UNPRI’s victory was secured with a convincing final score of 69 – 42. Throughout the match, the team under the guidance of Coach Jenny, S.E., M.M., demonstrated consistent dominance in every quarter. Their mature strategy and solid teamwork, led by captain Diantan Riovaldo, were the key factors in maintaining a significant point lead until the end of the game. This performance highlights the rigorous training and preparation undergone by the athletes.
The match was also attended by Team Manager Farrell and the Vice Coordinator of UNPRI Creative (UC), Haposan Lumbantoruan, S.Pd., M.Psi. The presence of the management provided significant moral support for the athletes on the court. SPARTAN UNPRI is a basketball club under the auspices of the Central UC, which is intensively mentored by the Vice Rector III for Student Affairs. This structure ensures that student-athletes receive proper guidance to balance their academic and athletic pursuits.
