R.E. Nainggolan Biography Book Review at UNPRI: Inspiring Leadership and Integrity for Gen Z
Internalizing Integrity Values and Exemplary Leadership for the Younger Generation through the Figure of a North Sumatran Bureaucratic Legend
Reflecting on the profound academic and literacy momentum of late 2025, Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) successfully hosted a book discussion titled "Biography of R.E. Nainggolan: Faith, Struggle, and Devotion." The event, held at the Mini Hall of the Main Campus, was far more than a ceremonial agenda; it was a significant recollection of the integrity and dedication of one of North Sumatra's most prominent figures. This retrospective look serves as a powerful reminder of how academic institutions can bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world leadership values.
The discussion, opened by Vice Rector III Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., provided a unique platform for students to engage with the realities of public service and bureaucracy. The presence of Dr. R.E. Nainggolan himself, alongside author Togar Nainggolan and other distinguished guests, added immense value to the campus literacy movement. For UNPRI, this event represented a long-term investment in character building, emphasizing that a culture of reading and critical reflection is the essential foundation for future leaders. It highlighted that success is built upon the pillars of perseverance and ethical governance.
Over two hours of dynamic discussion, a panel of experts including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fajar Rezeki Ananda Lubis and Dr. Arifin Saleh Siregar meticulously analyzed the 316-page biography. They explored RE Nainggolan's journey from a sub-district staff member to the pinnacle of his career as the Regional Secretary of North Sumatra. This flashback reminds us of his core principle: "A seat may be wet or dry, but the duty must always be performed." This spirit of selfless devotion aligns perfectly with UNPRI's mission toward becoming a World Class University in 2026, supporting SDGs 4, SDGs 9, and SDGs 17 by fostering a superior, character-driven academic ecosystem.
