FKKG UNPRI Hosts Guest Lecture with FKG UI Professor on Oral Health Maintenance for the Elderly

International-Standard Education for UNPRI Dental Students

Medan, July 14, 2026 — The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FKKG) at Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) successfully held a public lecture on "Oral Health Maintenance for the Elderly" at the Main Campus Ballroom on Friday (July 10, 2026). The event featured Prof. drg. Armasastra Bahar, Ph.D., a Professor from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Indonesia (FKG UI), as the keynote speaker.

The event was attended by UNPRI Vice Rector III, Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., and FKKG Dean Prof. Dr. dr. H. Gusbakti Rusip, M.Sc., Sp.KKLP., Subsp.FOMC(K)., PKK., AIFM., AIFO-K. In his remarks, Refi Ikhtiari emphasized the importance of this lecture as a bridge between research and clinical practice. "This activity is a testament to UNPRI's commitment to providing global insights to our students. We aim for FKKG students not only to be theoretically excellent but also clinically astute in addressing the healthcare challenges of the elderly," said Refi.

Prof. Armasastra discussed oral health issues in the elderly, such as xerostomia and the link between oral health and systemic diseases like diabetes. He introduced "Oral Cavity Exercises" as a preventive innovation to improve the quality of life for the elderly. The session concluded with an interactive discussion between the expert and the students.
