UNPRI Hosts The 8th ICOSNIKOM 2026: IEEE International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology Held in Medan
Attracting Researchers from 8 Countries, UNPRI Reaffirms Its Position as a Global Technology-Driven Academic Conference Hub
Medan, September 24, 2026 — Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) proudly served as the host for The 8th IEEE International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (ICOSNIKOM 2026), held at the UNPRI Main Campus Main Hall on Thursday (Sept 24, 2026). Conducted in a hybrid format from 07:00 AM to 05:00 PM WIB, the prestigious international conference was organized through a strategic collaboration between APTIKOM Region I North Sumatra and UNPRI.
The grand event was graced by UNPRI Vice Rector I Dr. Abdi Dharma, S.Kom., M.Kom., FITPM, FITAR, AITSP, MCF, MTCNA, MTCRE; Vice Rector III Dr. Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D.; and leaders from the Faculty of Science and Technology (FAST). Distinguished guests included APTIKOM Region I North Sumatra Chairman Prof. Dr. Syahril Efendi, S.Si., M.I.T.; Secretary Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, S.Kom., M.Kom.; and IEEE CSS/RAS Joint Chapter Chair Arjon Turnip, Ph.D.
Serving as the General Chair, UNPRI Vice Rector I highlighted this year's exceptional turnout in his opening remarks. Out of 182 submitted manuscripts, 147 passed initial screening and underwent rigorous double-blind peer reviews by an international panel of experts. Ultimately, 79 manuscripts were accepted for presentation and publication—reflecting a highly selective standard. Notably, accepted papers originated from researchers across 8 countries: Thailand, Iraq, the United States, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, India, and Indonesia.
"ICOSNIKOM is more than just a paper presentation venue—it is a platform for cross-border dialogue, international research partnerships, and inspiring discoveries," Dr. Abdi Dharma emphasized. He reaffirmed UNPRI's long-term commitment to fostering an international research ecosystem in computer science and information technology, positioning Medan and North Sumatra as a prominent global hub for tech-based academic conferences.
The conference featured insights from five distinguished international keynote speakers: Prof. Dr. Andry Alamsyah, S.Si., M.Sc. (Telkom University, Indonesia); Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Hanafi Ahmad Hijazi (Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Malaysia); Mr. Niraj Shrikhande (Salesforce, USA); Dr. Saiyed Umer (Aliah University, India); and Dr. Chutiporn Anutariya (Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand).
