UNPRI, Medan – Graduation marks the culmination of a long academic journey undertaken by every student in higher education. It is a testament that the students have fulfilled both academic and administrative requirements of the university. The Open Senate Session of Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) for the 9th Graduation Ceremony of Diploma, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral programs—both domestic and international—was held on Wednesday (October 1, 2025) at the Main Hall, 10th Floor, Jalan Sampul No. 3 Medan Petisah Campus.

The ceremony was officially opened and chaired by UNPRI Rector, Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes., and attended by several distinguished national and regional figures, including the Vice Governor of North Sumatra, H. Surya, B.Sc., representing Governor Bobby Nasution; Presidential Health Advisor Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Prof. Dr. dr. Terawan Agus Putranto, Sp.Rad(K); Head of LLDikti Region I North Sumatra, Prof. Drs. Saiful Anwar Matondang, M.A., Ph.D.; Regent of Labuhanbatu Utara, Hendri Yanto Sitorus, S.E., M.M.; and Parepare Police Chief, South Sulawesi, AKBP Arman Muis, S.H., S.I.K., M.M., who earned his Doctor of Law degree at UNPRI.

The total number of graduates reached 2,829 students. The event was also attended by UNPRI Founder Prof. Dr. dr. I Nyoman Ehrich Lister, M.Kes., AIFM., Sp.KKLP., UNPRI Advisor Prof. Dr. dr. Farhat, M. Ked (ORL-HNS), and Chairman of the UNPRI Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. Tommy Leonard, S.H., M.Kn., along with UNPRI’s partner institutions, vice rectors, deans, lecturers, and staff from 54 study programs across 8 faculties. The graduation ceremony took place over two days until Thursday (October 2, 2025), with two sessions held each day.

In her speech, Prof. Chrismis emphasized that graduation is not merely a celebration, but a historic milestone in facing a dynamic and evolving world. The era of digital revolution, artificial intelligence, and multidimensional competence demands graduates to continue sharpening their soft skills, leadership, communication, and collaboration. “Be intelligent graduates who are innovative and adaptive. Never stop learning, even after UNPRI has equipped you with socio-technopreneurship values—to be virtuous, contribute to technology and humanity, and strive toward Golden Indonesia 2045,” she affirmed. She also expressed gratitude to the graduates and their parents for entrusting their education to UNPRI.

Echoing her message, Prof. Drs. Saiful Anwar Matondang, M.A., Ph.D., reminded graduates to remain humble and uphold the good name of their alma mater. He praised UNPRI’s achievements, noting its record of having the most specialist medical residency programs (PPDS) in Indonesia, strengthening UNPRI’s role as a center of excellence in health and socio-economic research, and supporting its vision of becoming a “World Class University.” This aligns with President Prabowo’s ASTACITA national agenda.

Prof. Terawan proudly highlighted that seven UNPRI Doctor of Medical Science graduates have conducted research on diabetes therapy and kidney damage, published in reputable Q2 international journals. “Maintaining good relationships with your alma mater and fostering a culture of research will bring positive impact for the nation,” he remarked. He encouraged graduates to keep innovating and creating new job opportunities from the knowledge they have gained.

Meanwhile, Vice Governor H. Surya, representing Governor Bobby Nasution, urged all UNPRI graduates to keep learning, uphold integrity and noble character, and continue building networks and collaborations. “Graduation is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of a new chapter to contribute to society and become proud ambassadors of UNPRI,” he said. He also mentioned that, according to BPS data (February 19, 2025), North Sumatra has 189 public and private universities with a total of 404,289 students.

The ceremony concluded with the announcement of UNPRI’s establishment of Indonesia’s first Stem Cell Laboratory, the conferment of Professorships to Dr. Muh Busra Fauzi (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia) and Dr. Daniel Looi Qi Hao (Cytohealth, Malaysia), and the recitation of UNPRI’s “Tri Marga Perguruan Tinggi.” (Yd).
