Studying the fundamentals of biology, chemistry, and physics as the foundation of agricultural science, covering the structure and function of plant life, the properties and chemical reactions of soil-water-plant systems, and the basic physical principles underlying agricultural production systems.

• CPMK1 — Students are able to explain the basic concepts of biology, chemistry, and physics and their relationship to the plant, soil, water, and agricultural environment systems.
• CPMK2 — Students are able to analyze the biological, chemical, and physical principles and processes that affect plant growth, productivity, and agricultural environmental conditions.
• CPMK3 — Students are able to apply the principles of biology, chemistry, and physics through observation, measurement, data analysis, and simple problem-solving in agricultural systems in a scientific, safe, and sustainable manner.

This course examines fundamental sociological concepts, the socio-cultural characteristics of plantation communities, social interactions and structures, and village or plantation institutions. Plantation Sociology also explores the dynamics of agrarian conflict, plantation capitalism, development, welfare, environmental issues, and the role of the state, while evaluating various social phenomena occurring within plantation communities.

Studying the basic principles and concepts of agronomy to support the growth, development, and productivity of sustainable oil palm plantation crops

• CPMK2 — Students are able to apply the basic principles of sustainable farming systems in managing resources and crop production.

Studying the concepts and basic functions of management (planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling) and their application in the operational management of plantation estates and companies through project-based learning.

Studying the Botanical Structure and Morphology of the Oil Palm

• CPMK1 — Able to conceptualize the principles of oil palm botany and morphology to determine the influence of leaf, stem, and root structures, as well as land suitability, on oil palm growth.
• CPMK2 — Able to conceptualize information on flower structure, fruit–seed development, and sex ratio to relate the factors influencing yield formation in oil palm.
• CPMK3 — Able to implement the concepts of photosynthesis, leaf–production relationships, root–nutrient interactions, and planting material development to evaluate strategies for increasing oil palm productivity.

This course addresses the ability to manage oneself effectively by strengthening character and professional ethics, as well as managing time, emotions, stress, and communication, alongside career and financial planning. Students are guided to cultivate positive habits and workplace readiness within the agribusiness and oil palm plantation sectors through discussions, practical activities, and structured projects.

Studying Basic Soil Science Concepts to Support Sustainable Agriculture

• CPMK2 — Able to conceptualize soil biology principles to analyze the diversity of soil organisms, as well as their interactions and roles in organic matter formation and soil fertility dynamics.

This course equips students with the ability to apply basic principles of biology, chemistry, physics, soil science, botany, and agronomy through practicum activities to identify soil characteristics, plant morphology, and oil palm growth and development processes, followed by systematic observation, measurement, data analysis, and evaluation of plant growth conditions to formulate effective, efficient, and sustainable oil palm cultivation recommendations.

Studying the planning, implementation, and evaluation of oil palm fresh fruit bunch (FFB) harvesting, sorting, and transportation to the palm oil mill (PKS) efficiently, safely, and sustainably

• CPMK1 — Able to plan and prepare FFB harvesting activities systematically based on harvest ripeness criteria, harvest rotation, harvesting tools, and production estimates to develop an effective, efficient, and safe harvest plan.
• CPMK2 — Able to carry out FFB harvesting, sorting, and post-harvest handling at the collection point (TPH) properly in accordance with quality standards and OHS to maintain fruit quality and reduce harvest losses.
• CPMK3 — Able to analyze and manage the FFB transportation system to the mill (PKS) efficiently, coordinate harvesting and hauling activities, and prepare reports and recommendations for improving harvesting and transportation efficiency.

Studying the planning, financing, and implementation of oil palm replanting operations from a technical and managerial perspective, based on the principles of cost efficiency, occupational safety, and sustainability

• CPMK1 — Able to analyze the urgency, technical feasibility criteria, and regulations of oil palm replanting, and to prepare a cost plan and financing scheme for a replanting program.
• CPMK2 — Able to plan and supervise land preparation, nursery, planting, and immature-oil-palm (TBM) maintenance operations in an oil palm replanting program.
• CPMK3 — Able to evaluate the performance of replanting operations, prepare work-result reports, and integrate occupational safety and sustainability principles into replanting program management.

Studying the Technology of Production, Quality Testing, and Preparation of Oil Palm Planting Material (Seed, Germinated Seed, and Seedling)

• CPMK1 — Able to conceptualize the fundamentals of planting material technology, fruit and seed structure, reproductive systems, genetics and breeding, and production and certification systems to determine the factors influencing the genetic quality of superior oil palm planting material.
• CPMK2 — Able to conceptualize seed harvesting and extraction technology, physiology and dormancy, dormancy breaking, germinated seed production, and quality testing to analyze and solve problems in the physical and physiological quality of oil palm planting material.
• CPMK3 — Able to implement germinated seed handling technology, pre-nursery and main-nursery management, vigor testing, and digitalization and automation to design an integrated, efficient, and sustainable oil palm planting material production system ready for field planting.

Studying the Budgeting, Cost Calculation, and Financial Feasibility of Oil Palm Cultivation

• CPMK1 — Able to conceptualize cost classification and the preparation of budget plans (RAB) for oil palm cultivation in the land preparation, nursery, planting, and maintenance (immature and mature) phases to calculate cost requirements per hectare efficiently.
• CPMK2 — Able to analyze harvesting, labor, transportation, and estate overhead costs to determine the production cost per kilogram of FFB and evaluate budget variances as a basis for decision-making.
• CPMK3 — Able to analyze cash flow, financial feasibility criteria (NPV, IRR, Net B/C, and payback period), and the sensitivity of oil palm plantation enterprises to assess sustainable sociotechnopreneurship-based business opportunities.

Studying ISO, ISPO, and RSPO Quality Management Systems and Their Application in Sustainable Oil Palm Plantation and Mill Management

• CPMK1 — Able to conceptualize the principles of quality management systems and ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) to develop a quality documentation system for oil palm plantation and mill units.
• CPMK2 — Able to analyze the requirements of ISPO and RSPO certification and their relationship with national regulations and ISO standards to integrate them into transparent and accountable oil palm plantation governance.
• CPMK3 — Able to analyze performance and verify quality management systems and oil palm sustainability certification through internal audits, identification of nonconformities, and formulation of corrective actions.
