UNPRI Signs Strategic Partnership with the Language Development and Cultivation Agency of Kemendikdasmen
Strengthening Literacy, UKBI, and the Internationalization of the Indonesian Language
Medan, June 4, 2026 — Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) officially signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Language Development and Cultivation Agency (Badan Bahasa), Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), on Thursday (June 4, 2026). This collaboration aims to enhance synergy in language development, human resource competency, literacy, and academic linguistic programs.
The event was attended by leadership from both institutions. The Language Agency was represented by its Head, Hafidz Muksin, S.Sos., M.Si., North Sumatra Language Center Head Dr. Asrif, M.Hum., and their delegation. UNPRI was represented by Vice Rector I Dr. Abdi Dharma, S.Kom., M.Kom., alongside university deans and leaders.
UNPRI Vice Rector I stated that this partnership is a strategic move to support academic advancement and literacy. The collaboration will specifically support the implementation of the Indonesian Language Proficiency Test (UKBI) at UNPRI and bolster research efforts aimed at advancing national education.
Head of the Language Agency, Hafidz Muksin, highlighted the "Trigatra Bangun Bahasa" concept—prioritizing Indonesian, preserving regional languages, and mastering foreign languages. He also emphasized the BIPA (Indonesian for Foreign Speakers) program as a strategic initiative to internationalize the Indonesian language.
The signing concluded with the presentation of an ulos, a symbol of local cultural respect. Through this partnership, UNPRI and the Language Agency agree to promote the preservation of the Indonesian language and academic literacy, positioning the campus as a frontrunner in safeguarding the nation's linguistic heritage.
