UNPRI and Google for Education Host AI Training, Encouraging Faculty to Adopt Artificial Intelligence in Teaching.

Medan, May 6, 2026 — Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) Medan, in collaboration with Google for Education Indonesia, organized the Google for Education Artificial Intelligence Training on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 1:30 PM WIB, at the UNPRI Campus Mini Hall, Jl. Sampul No. 3, Medan. The event was attended by 250 permanent lecturers from UNPRI, along with Vice Rector I Dr. Abdi Dharma, S.Kom., M.Kom., Vice Rector III Dr. Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., bureau heads, institution heads, deans, and heads of study programs from all faculties within UNPRI.
The event opened with a speech by Vice Rector I, Dr. Abdi Dharma, S.Kom., M.Kom.. He stated clearly that UNPRI fully supports the adoption of artificial intelligence in the learning process—for both lecturers and students. For him, this is not just about following trends, but about relevance and competitiveness. "Lecturers and students who do not utilize AI today will be left behind. We cannot wait—we must move now," he asserted. He also encouraged all participants not just to get to know AI, but to truly integrate it into their daily academic activities. "Use AI to teach better, research deeper, and produce more impactful work. That is what we expect from every UNPRI lecturer," he added. This move strengthens UNPRI's commitment as an excellently accredited university that continues to innovate within global education standards.
This spirit aligns with UNPRI's vision rooted in Sociotechnopreneurship—building an academic community that is not only tech-savvy but capable of utilizing technology creatively and innovatively to create real value. The event featured Kristiyanto, S.H., MPP, Customer Success Manager for Higher Education at Google for Education Indonesia, as the speaker. In an interactive session, he guided the lecturers on how to maximize two main AI-based tools from the Google ecosystem—Gemini AI and NotebookLM. Participants were invited to directly practice using Gemini AI to support teaching preparation, instructional material development, and more efficient research analysis. NotebookLM was introduced as a highly useful tool for managing references, summarizing literature, and generating research summaries quickly and accurately. The session was lively, with many lecturers immediately trying out these features firsthand.
UNPRI itself is an excellently accredited higher education institution and the only private campus in Indonesia to achieve international accreditation from IAAHEH for its medicine and medical professional programs.
