NATIONAL SEMINAR ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN THE DIGITAL ERA FACULTY OF ECONOMICS UNPRI SUCCESSFUL
Three Famous Speakers Motivate Students of FE UNPRI
MEDAN (Portibi DNP): The National Seminar “Entrepreneurship in the Digital Era” held by the Faculty of Economics (FE) Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) Medan together with UNPRi Creative, at Selecta Hall on Saturday (15/7) was a success, and was enthusiastically welcomed by students.
The seminar was attended by UNPRI Founder Dr. dr. I Nyoman E Lister MKes AIFM, Head of BPH UNPRI Dr. Tommy Leonard SH MKn, UNPRI Chancellor Prof. dr. Djakobus Tarigan AAI DAAK, University Secretary Dr. Crismis Novalinda Ginting SSit MKes, UNPRI Vice Chancellor I Seno Aji SPd M Eng Prac, UNPRI Vice Chancellor II Dr. Ermi Girsang SKM MKes, UNPRI FE Dean Cut Fitri Rostina SE MM, UNPRI FE Deputy Dean Hendry SE MM and UNPRI lecturers.
On that occasion, the Coordinator of Kopertis Region I represented by the Executive Secretary Dr. Mahyuni MHum, gave his appreciation.
Kopertis asked FE UNPRI Medan students to actively participate in the Student Creativity Week (PKM), held by the Directorate of Higher Education (Dikti), so that students can obtain valuable input and can contribute to improving the national economy.
"We appreciate FE UNPRI for implementing this national entrepreneurship seminar, hopefully this effort will be carried out sustainably. We hope that the output of this event will be more FE UNPRI students who submit PKM proposals to Dikti, both in the form of articles and research. Very few student proposals from North Sumatra have passed PKM so far. We hope that this seminar can encourage students to open their horizons in the field of entrepreneurship," he said, when opening the UNPRI national seminar.
He said that the success of college graduates is most influenced by their soft skills, not academic content, such as communication skills, language, cooperation and the ability to find solutions. "This means that the most important thing is character, academic content is the fifth or sixth order. "I hope that all courses at FE UNPRI have included soft skills," he said.
He also hopes that the UKM service unit at UNPRI will actively monitor and evaluate the development of community needs and cooperation with the industrial world, with brilliant ideas so that it can produce innovation. The UKM Service Unit in question is not only in the Faculty of Economics UNPRI, but also in other faculties.
It was also seen that the FE UNPRI students seemed amazed by the presence of three famous speakers, namely Dennis Adishwara (Founder & CEO of Layaria.com) who is also an actor, producer and director, Andri Rizki Putra (Founder of Yayasan Pemimpin Anak Bangsa) who is also one of the Kick Andy Young Heroes 2015 and finally Christopher Angkasa (Founder of Clapham Collective).
The three speakers encouraged FE UNPRI students to produce innovative and unique works.
Christopher discussed how to become a startup, the components that needed and the obstacles that will be faced. Meanwhile, Rizki shared about his struggle to achieve success even though he was from a non-formal school, helping underprivileged teenagers' education through the Equivalency Package Education, and getting a scholarship to study in the USA from LPDP.
"Education is what can change our fate. I was angry with schools that were dishonest in conducting the National Exam, so I took Package C. Then I care about teenagers who drop out of school, because that's my experience. Proper education will be able to change character," he added.
Actor and entrepreneur Dennis explains the creation of content on social media digitally. According to him, whether Youtube content or other social media and the industry in general must be produced in an innovative and unique (differential) way.
According to him, what is trending and superior today will soon be out of date with the emergence of other new products and services. But if we try through innovation and differentiation, then our products will remain updated and in demand.
When asked by students what efforts can be made so that products/services do not expire quickly, Dennis said they must be consistently updated, then collaborate with other businesses.
He also gave tips that any product produced must provide three types of value, namely creative value, production value and publishing value. "Content/product creators must be innovative and differentiated, of course through research. This is rarely done by creators in Indonesia, including films and soap operas, the reason is because that is what readers ask for. Research requires money and time, so people who want instant success ignore that research," he said.
Students of the Faculty of Economics were enthusiastic about participating in the seminar, also competing to ask questions. It is not uncommon for the presenters to come down to the students' seats to be more interactive, then give souvenirs to those who ask questions. At the end of the session, all structural officials of the Faculty of Economics took a photo o together and giving souvenirs to the speakers.
Previously, the Chairperson of the Committee who is also the Dean of FE UNPRI Medan, Cut Fitri Rostina SE MM, said that the purpose of implementing the national seminar with the theme "Entrepreneurship in the Digital Era", is to improve students' understanding of entrepreneurship in the digital field, to become young and creative entrepreneurs, able to create jobs.
