Ramadan Sharing: UNPRI Library Unit Spreads the Spirit of Literacy and Compassion at Padang Bulan Orphanage
A Tangible Form of UNPRI's Commitment to Enhancing Literacy Culture and Providing Educational Support for Children in Need.
Medan – The Library Unit of Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) organized the "Ramadan Sharing: The Beauty of Literacy and Collective Care" event on Saturday (Mar 7, 2026) at Padang Bulan Orphanage, Medan. This activity is a concrete manifestation of the concern of the UNPRI academic community in sharing happiness during the holy month of Ramadan, while fostering a spirit of literacy among orphanage children.
The event, which took place with great warmth, focused not only on providing material assistance but also on developing children's interest in reading and knowledge. The team from the UNPRI Library Unit handed over basic food packages to the orphanage management as a form of support in meeting the daily needs of the foster children. In addition to the food handover, this activity was also enlivened by interactive games involving all the children to hone creativity and teamwork.
The main focus of this activity was the introduction of book reading literacy. The UNPRI library team provided education on the importance of reading from an early age and introduced various types of interesting and educational reading books. Children were invited to love books as a window to knowledge and a means of developing their imagination and insight. This is in line with the university's efforts to produce competent and high-quality generations.
The Head of the UNPRI Library Unit stated that this activity is in line with the library's mission to not only serve the academic community but also contribute to the wider community through the Sociotechnopreneurship vision. "We hope that through this activity, children can feel happiness in the month of Ramadan and be motivated to enjoy reading. Literacy is the key to opening a better future," she said. This proves that UNPRI continues to innovate in community service programs.
