Eye Health Socialization, Muslimat NU & UNPRI Encourage Women to Become Vision Care Pioneers
The Muslimat Nahdlatul Ulama Branch (PC Muslimat NU) of Padangsidimpuan City successfully held a community service activity entitled Socialization of Eye Health Services. The socialization activity was held at the MUI Building in Padangsidimpuan City and was attended by participants from various groups, Saturday (21/06/25) This education is a real step in socializing the importance of maintaining eye health to the community. In addition, this event is also part of an effort to strengthen the role of women in family health matters.
This activity is the result of a collaboration between PC Muslimat NU P.Sidimpuan and LPPM Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) Medan. Not only that, this activity also collaborates with the UPT Eye Health Service of North Sumatra and the DPD Wanita Puja Kesuma of Padangsidimpuan City. The presence of cross-women's organizations and support from related agencies made this activity feel very inclusive. The participants seemed enthusiastic about following the event from beginning to end. The event was officially opened by the Chairperson of Family Empowerment and Welfare (PKK) Mrs. Masroini Lieutenant Dalimunthe, who attended with the entire PKK Working Group. She strongly supports the activity, even this activity is also in line with the PKK work program in the field of health and women's empowerment. Representatives from various agencies such as the Health, Social, Manpower, and Education Departments also enlivened the event. "We are present today. This is a form of joint commitment that health issues, including eyes, must be a cross-sector concern," she said. Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the PC Muslimat NU Padangsidimpuan City, Rohayati Nasution, S.Pd, S.Ag in her speech conveyed a meaningful message.
She emphasized the importance of the role of women in maintaining eye health as part of family resilience. According to her, eyes are a vital asset that supports productivity and quality of human life. "Eye health is a window to see the future. We want women to be pioneers in caring for family health, starting from healthy eyes," she said. Three main speakers were present at this activity and delivered very useful and applicable materials. Prof. Dr. Sri Sulistyawati, SH., M.Si, Professor at UNPRI, reminded the importance of early detection in maintaining vision. "Do not ignore any eye complaints, no matter how small. Visual impairment can have a major impact on productivity and quality of life," she said. She also emphasized that routine check-ups are the first step for effective prevention. Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Dahlia Lubis, Professor at UINSU, invited mothers to play a role as educational agents in the family. She said that education that starts at home can form a culture of caring about eye health. "If mothers care about eye health, then all family members will be carried away in a healthy culture," she said.
She also said that health education can be instilled since children start school. Hj. Dahlia Hartono, M.Si, from the North Sumatra Eye Health Service UPT also completed this socialization session. She explained various eye health facilities and services that are already available in various regions. According to her, access to eye health services is increasingly open and can be utilized by the community. "Now it's just a matter of our willingness to check regularly and spread this knowledge in the surrounding environment," he said. The activity took place in a warm atmosphere, full of interaction and togetherness. Participants were given the opportunity to consult directly with the medical team regarding eye problems. This service was welcomed enthusiastically, especially by mothers who attended with PKK cadres and other organizations. Many participants hope that similar activities can continue in the future.
