The meeting between UNPRI and YZNU was part of an international cooperation agenda in education, cultural exchange, and global academic development. Discussion points included establishing a Confucius Institute as a center for Mandarin language and cultural development at UNPRI; a Joint Degree (1+2+1) program and Short Courses for students of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FAST) and the Faculty of Economics (FE); and curriculum alignment to enhance the quality of global education.
The delegation, led by Professor Wu Wen, Vice Rector of Yangtze Normal University, and accompanied by Huang Dongmei (Director of International Cooperation), Li Xuexun (Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages), and Sun Yinhhua (Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture), was welcomed by the Dean of FKIP UNPRI, Dr. Dian Syafitri, S.S., M.Hum. They expressed strong appreciation for UNPRI’s comprehensive facilities, including FKIP UNPRI’s luxurious Arts and Culture Gallery showcasing the rich cultural heritage and local wisdom of North Sumatra. The delegates enthusiastically toured the modern facilities and educationally curated cultural exhibits on campus, seeing substantial potential for long-term collaboration.

FKIP UNPRI’s Arts and Culture Gallery is one of the faculty’s icons for introducing the diversity of North Sumatran culture, especially to international guests, offering a glimpse of the region’s cultural wealth. Beyond cultural accessories such as musical instruments and traditional games, the gallery also hosts other collections like original historical newspaper manuscripts—resembling a mini museum.
“It is an honor for FKIP UNPRI to receive the delegation from Yangtze Normal University (YZNU), China, and to introduce our Arts and Culture Gallery—like a mini museum with several collections. We presented to the delegates the culture and local wisdom of North Sumatra’s eight major ethnic groups. Beyond attire and cultural accessories, we also showcased traditional musical instruments such as the Kulcapi from the Karo ethnic group, the accordion from the Malay ethnic group, traditional games like Congklak, and original old newspaper manuscripts that drew great interest,” said Dr. Dian.
After visiting FKIP UNPRI’s Arts and Culture Gallery, the YZNU delegation continued a campus tour to Royal Prima General Hospital on Ayahanda Street, Medan, as part of a review of UNPRI’s integrated educational facilities as a leading international-caliber campus. This visit is a concrete step for UNPRI in strengthening international cooperation networks—particularly with the distinguished Yangtze Normal University (YZNU), China—to advance educational quality, culture, and students’ global development.
