UNPRI Ready to Become a Pioneer of the “Impact Campus” Program from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology

UNPRI is at the forefront of creating an impactful campus, a solution for the nation's future

Medan, May 13, 2025 – The government through the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia has officially launched the latest higher education program entitled "Impact Campus", replacing the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program which emphasizes learning flexibility, while Impact Campus highlights the value of sustainability and concrete results of the programs being run.

This program is present as a higher education policy that emphasizes the real contribution of campuses to society, the business world, and sustainable development. Through Impact Campus, the government invites all universities to not only become centers of knowledge, but also centers of solutions to social, economic, and environmental problems in Indonesia.

Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) as one of the leading universities under LL DIKTI Region I, North Sumatra, welcomes the launch of the latest national program led by Prof. Brian Yuliarto, S.T, M.Eng., Ph.D,. because it is in accordance with the concept of socio-technopreneurship that is being promoted, namely a higher education approach that combines technology, innovation, and social entrepreneurship to solve community problems.

UNPRI, which has a total of 51 study programs and a reputation as the best Faculty of Medicine in Indonesia, sees the Impact Campus program as a strategic opportunity to strengthen the real contribution of academics, both through community service, applied research, and the development of technology-based social entrepreneurship and is ready to be a pioneer in realizing higher education that not only produces graduates, but also produces real solutions for the nation.

"Impact Campus is an accelerator for UNPRI's vision in producing graduates who are not only competent, but also able to provide real solutions for the nation, not only becoming a center of knowledge, but also a center of solutions, students are not only learners, but problem solvers, this is the right time to expand the positive impact of UNPRI on a larger scale," said Abdi Dharma, S.Kom., M.Kom., FITPM, FITAR, AITSP, MCF, MTCNA, Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs.

Although replacing MBKM, the continuity and strengthening of the MBKM program into an Impact Campus program still maintains a number of important components, such as: Teaching Practitioner Program, Certified Internships in industry and the public sector, Social and Technology Innovation Projects, Student Entrepreneurship, Fostered Villages and Integrated Community Service and Applied and Collaborative Research.

The program's success indicators are now assessed from the extent to which campus programs have a direct and sustainable impact, for campuses in the form of incentives and recognition of the impact of their programs, for lecturers as a research space, facilitated service and broader collaboration with local governments, industry, and NGOs and for students, as field experience, adding to portfolios, professional networks, and opportunities to build social businesses based on science.

UNPRI is optimistic that this program will be the main reinforcement for the campus' mission in forming graduates who are adaptive, solution-oriented, and have a socio-technopreneur spirit and bring a new spirit to the world of higher education: not only producing intelligent graduates, but also producing direct impacts on society, the business world, and the environment. Lecturers and students become agents of change with measurable results and direct benefits.
