FIK UNPRI's Impact: PHBS Education and Local Herbal Utilization for the People of Pantai Labu Pekan Village
UNPRI's Real Contribution in Building a Healthy, Independent, and Empowered Society in Deli Serdang Regency
Medan, July 10, 2026 — The Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK) at Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) made a tangible impact on the community of Pantai Labu Pekan Village, Deli Serdang Regency, through a Community Service program themed "Improving Quality of Life through Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (PHBS) and the Utilization of Local Herbs," held on Tuesday (June 23, 2026).
This initiative reflects UNPRI's commitment as an "impactful campus," in line with Kemdiktisaintek's policy encouraging higher education institutions to contribute directly to society. The event was attended by the Dean of FIK UNPRI, Dr. Santy Deasy Siregar, S.K.M., M.Kes., Vice Dean I, apt. Razoki, S.Si., M.Kes., M.Biomed., M.H., along with FIK UNPRI faculty members and staff.
The FIK UNPRI team provided comprehensive education on PHBS, covering personal hygiene, environmental sanitation, and healthy lifestyles. Additionally, the community was introduced to the potential of local herbs as sustainable health alternatives, combining local wisdom with modern scientific approaches.
Dr. Santy Deasy Siregar emphasized the importance of health as the foundation of community well-being. "Family health is the cornerstone of a strong and prosperous society. We are here not only to share knowledge but also to learn directly from the community. This is a real manifestation of a university that impacts society," she said.
This program is a concrete implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, specifically the pillar of community service. Through collaboration and empowerment, FIK UNPRI hopes this knowledge will serve as a long-term resource for the residents of Pantai Labu Pekan to lead healthier and more independent lives.
