Strengthening Medical Education Governance With The University Teaching Hospital
Medan, October 13, 2026 — Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) warmly welcomed a comparative study delegation from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani (UNJANI), Cimahi. This strategic meeting aimed to exchange experiences, strengthen institutional relations, and discuss the advancement of medical education and teaching hospital management. The event took place at the 10th Floor Meeting Room of the UNPRI Main Campus in Medan, followed by a site visit to RS Pendidikan Royal Prima Medan.
The event was graced by top leadership from both institutions. Representing UNPRI were Chairman of the Daily Executive Board (BPH) of the UNPRI Foundation, Prof. Dr. Tommy Leonard, S.H., M.Kn.; Vice Rector III for Research and Development, Dr. Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D.; Vice Rector IV, Dr. dr. Ali Napiah Nasution, M.K.T., M.K.M., Sp.KKLP(K)., Subsp.COPC.; alongside faculty deans.
Meanwhile, the UNJANI delegation was led by the Chairman of the Kartika Eka Paksi Foundation (YKEP) Management, Maj. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Mochamad Reza Utama, accompanied by foundation board members; UNJANI Rector Prof. Dr. Agus Subagyo, S.I.P., M.Si., along with vice rectors; and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine UNJANI, Dr. Iis Inayati Rakhmat, dr., M.Kes., along with faculty leaders.
In his opening remarks, BPH Chairman Prof. Dr. Tommy Leonard expressed deep appreciation for the visit. He underscored the importance of innovation, sound institutional governance, exceptional human resources, and adequate educational facilities. Medical institutions are expected to produce graduates who are not only academically and clinically superior but also possess high professional integrity and empathy toward public health.
Echoing this sentiment, YKEP Chairman Maj. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Mochamad Reza Utama thanked UNPRI for the warm reception, noting that the visit provides invaluable insights into integrating medical education with a teaching hospital, serving as a crucial benchmark for UNJANI's future health infrastructure development.
The program proceeded with an in-depth discussion session covering operational management at Royal Prima Teaching Hospital, the integration of academic functions with healthcare services, budget planning, and environmental infrastructure management such as wastewater treatment plants (WWTP). The visit concluded with a tour of Royal Prima Teaching Hospital and a formal plaque exchange symbolizing institutional friendship.
