PUBLIC LECTURE FTIK UNPRI
Prof. Raphael Finkel Gives Public Lecture to Students of Faculty of Technology and Computer Science UNPRI
A computer science professor from the University of Kentucky USA gave a public lecture in front of students of the Faculty of Technology & Computer Science, Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI).
The public lecture was also attended by the Chancellor of UNPRI Prof. dr. Djakobus Tarigan, AAI., DAAK., Dean of the Faculty of Technology & Computer Science Abdi Dharma S.Kom., M.Kom., Head of the Undergraduate Study Program - Informatics Engineering Mawaddah Harahap, S.Kom., M.Kom., Head of the Undergraduate Study Program - Industrial Engineering Fahri Zulmy, S.T., M.T, Secretary of the Undergraduate Study Program - Information Systems Siti Aisyah, S.Kom., M.Kom., Refi Ikhtiari, Ph.D (UNPRI Quality Assurance Institute), and Teng Sauh Hwee S.E., M.Si (coordinator of cooperation).
In the public lecture, Prof. Raphael Finkel delivered two lecture topics. In the first session, Prof. Raphael Finkel discussed programming languages, by introducing a functional programming language called ML, and a logic programming language called Prolog.
Then, in the second session, Prof. Raphael Finkel delivered about 10 Algorithms that must be known by a student studying computer science.
Prof. Raphael Finkel explained that Algorithm means a tool to solve specific computational problems. In an algorithm there must be input as the material used, procedural steps to map input to output, and of course must have output as the result of the computation.
He said, several aspects that must be considered in analyzing an algorithm are Correctness. The truth in question is the output produced by the algorithm according to what is desired or according to the facts that are in accordance with the computational calculations. Truth is related to accuracy and precision.
The presentation of the algorithm can also be done in several forms, according to the target object of the presentation.
Algorithms are also related to data structures. The importance of data structures for organizing data storage in memory. One of the problems of computing is limited resources, one of which is memory.
As we know, that Prof. Raphael Finkel is creating the first version of the Jargon File
UNPRI Rector Prof. dr. Djakobus Tarigan, AAI., DAAK., accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Technology & Computer Science Abdi Dharma, S.Kom., M.Kom., handed over a souvenir to a Professor in the field of computers from the University of Kentucky USA after giving a public lecture to students of the Faculty of Technology & Computer Science UNPRI in the multipurpose room on the 5th floor of the Royal Prima Hospital, Jalan Ayahanda Medan
