DEAN OF FASILKOM IT USU PRESENTS IT DEVELOPMENTS AT UNPRI

Public Lecture by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zarlis

The Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of North Sumatra (USU) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zarlis explained "Implementation of Cloud Computing in Global Data Processing". The presentation was delivered at a public lecture at the Faculty of Technology and Computer Science (FTIK) of the University of Prima Indonesia (Unpri), Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Dental & Oral Hospital, Jl. Pabrik Tenun No. 103 Medan.

He said that cloud computing refers to both applications provided as services via the internet, as well as hardware, hardware systems, and software systems in data centers that provide these services.

Cloud computing, he said, is also a computing service via the internet. Covering application services, data storage to infrastructure. And, computing services are scalable to user needs and can be adjusted quickly. "Users only pay for the services they use," he said again.

He explained, based on the implementation model (NIST 2009), namely private cloud computing and community clouds. Private clouds are generally cloud infrastructures that are operated specifically for an organization. While community clouds are cloud infrastructures that are used together by several organizations and support a community that has the same concerns or interests.

This professor from the University of North Sumatra (USU) also provided a lot of information about the knowledge of information and communication technology that is currently developing, especially the development of hardware and software. The public lecture was attended by the Rector of Universitas Prima Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Djakobus Tarigan, AAI, DAAK, Rector of Sutomo University, H. Ramli J. Marpaung, SH., MM, Dean of FTIK Unpri Abdi Dharma, S. Kom, Vice Dean I of FTIK Unpri, Chairul Azhar, S.Si. ,M.Pd, Head of Information Systems Study Program FTIK Unpri Safrian Aswati, M.Kom, Head of Informatics Engineering Study Program FTIK Unpri, Hendra Pasaribu, M.Kom, and Head of Public Lecture Committee, Allwin M. Simarmata, M.Kom.

Meanwhile, Dean of FTIK Unpri Abdi Dharma, S.Kom in his speech added, as we know, cloud computing is a term used to refer to various computing concepts that include collections of computers, on a very large scale and connected continuously (real time), in a communication network, and generally the network used is the internet network.
