Public Lecture at UNPRI, Erick Thohir Asks Students to Adapt to the Society 5.0 Era
Public Lecture by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia
Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir gave a public lecture at Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) Medan with the topic "Opportunities and Challenges for HR in the Era of Society 5.0", Friday (20/5/2022) at the Main Campus Hall, Jln. Medan Cover, attended by thousands of students and lecturers.
According to Erick Thohir, the challenges of the Society 5.0 Era include the loss of a number of jobs, such as food preparation workers, office administration workers, transportation service workers, non-auto manufacturing production workers, workers in the construction services sector and workers in traditional farming.
However, he said that the Society 5.0 Era also opens up new jobs, such as Data Scientist & Analyst, Artificial intelligence Expert, software & game developer, big data analyst, Black Chain developer, market research, biotechnology and digital content.
"Therefore, in the 3rd wave now I ask UNPRI students to immediately adapt, not only avoid problems but must be involved in solving problems. We need a young generation that is able to anticipate technological changes. Don't let the current job market in Indonesia be used by the young generation of other countries. If you don't want to change, don't want to adapt, just avoid problems, then Indonesia will be destroyed," he said.
Erick Thohir emphasized that it is time for a knowledge-based economy, namely an economic condition filled with skill labor, filled with digitalization and infrastructure. "Indonesia is late in building infrastructure. Only in the Jokowi administration era has infrastructure been built massively," he said.
He added that currently the job market is filled by 4 million ASN workers and 1.6 million BUMN employees. "It is impossible for this country to be built by only 5.6 million people. In total, there are 17 million jobs, so you UNPRI students as the next generation must take part. We from the Ministry of SOEs encourage the birth of digital talents in SOEs," he said.
Previously, UNPRI Chancellor Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting MKes said that the UNPRI Campus continues to grow and develop through the development of facilities and infrastructure, especially in the Era of Society 5.0 where technology is a part of life, his party will be committed to running the Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) program.
"For that, we from UNPRI ask for the willingness of the Minister of SOEs to collaborate so that UNPRI students can run the Certified Internship program in SOE companies," he said.
Also attending the event were UNPRI Founder Prof. Dr. dr. I Nyoman Ehrich Lister MKes AIFM, President Commissioner of PT Royal Prima Tbk. Dr. Heriyanti SH MKn, Head of BPH UNPRI Dr. Tommy Leonard SH MKn, Coordinator of Global Prima School Dr. Willy Tanjaya SH MKn, North Sumatra community figure who is also UNPRI Advisor Dr. RE. Nainggolan MM, lecturers, students and other guests.
Meanwhile, the Head of BPH UNPRI Dr Tommy Leonard SH MKn expressed his gratitude for the encouragement and enthusiasm given by the Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir to UNPRI students at the Public Lecture at UNPRI.
"Hopefully, what was conveyed by the Minister of SOEs can be understood and applied by UNPRI students," said the young doctor convincingly.
