Tangible Action to Support Post-Disaster Recovery
UNPRI Dispatches 100 Impactful Students for Humanitarian Missions Across the Sumatra Region.

Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) continues to solidify its reputation as the best private university in North Sumatra by deploying 100 students for the prestigious national program, "Mahasiswa Berdampak" (Impactful Students). This initiative is specifically designed to provide community empowerment and assist in the recovery of areas devastated by recent floods and landslides in Sumatra. The official send-off ceremony was held at the Mini Hall of UNPRI’s Main Campus, marking a significant milestone in the university's humanitarian mission.
The event was attended by high-ranking university officials, including Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., and the Head of UNPRI's Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM), Dr. Edy Fachrial, S.Si., M.Si. Their presence underscores UNPRI's philosophy that a world-class education must balance academic prowess with social responsibility. By participating in this 20-day program throughout February 2026, students gain invaluable off-campus learning experiences that align with modern performance indicators for higher education. UNPRI has strategically divided the participants into two groups: one heading to Aceh Tamiang and the other to Central Tapanuli.
"Our students' presence in the community is not just a form of service, but also a manifestation of our collective concern for others experiencing immense difficulties," stated Refi Ikhtiari during his speech.

This humanitarian drive is closely linked to the achievement of SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). The team's primary focus is to stabilize the educational sector by assisting local teachers and supporting the learning process in disaster-stricken zones. Dr. Yeni Ariesa, the field supervisor for the grant-winning proposal, expressed her gratitude, noting that being trusted to represent higher education institutions in this recovery effort is a profound honor. Through SDGs 17 cross-sectoral collaboration, UNPRI demonstrates that education is a powerful tool for rebuilding society. Join us at a campus that makes a difference: www.unprimdn.ac.id.
