The Visit of a Delegation from Yangtze Normal University China to UNPRI: Initiating Multinational Education Cooperation Towards 2027
A strategic meeting between Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) and Yangtze Normal University China opens up opportunities for international collaboration in education, research, and cultural exchange towards the global vision 2027.
UNPRI, Medan – Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI), an excellent socio-technopreneurship-based university, continues to strengthen its global position through international strategic partnerships. On Tuesday (October 2, 2025), UNPRI welcomed a delegation from Yangtze Normal University (YZNU), a prestigious university from Fuling District, Chongqing, China. The meeting took place at the Grand Meeting Room, 10th Floor, UNPRI Campus, Jalan Sampul No. 3, Medan Petisah, as a follow-up to the ongoing academic collaboration between Indonesia and China.
The YZNU delegation was led by Professor Wu Wen, Vice Rector of YZNU, accompanied by Huang Dongmei (Director of International Cooperation Office), Li Xuexun (Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages), and Sun Yinhua (Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture). From UNPRI, the event was attended by Prof. Dr. Tommy Leonard, S.H., M.Kn. (Chairman of the Prima Indonesia Higher Education Foundation Board), Dr. Abdi Dharma, S.Kom., M.Kom., FITPM, FITAR, AITSP, MCF (Vice Rector I), Prof. Dr. Ermi Girsang, M.Kes., M.Biomed., AIFO (Vice Rector II), Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Vice Rector III), Dr. dr. Ali Napiah Nasution, MKT, MKM, Sp.KKLP(K) (Vice Rector IV), along with deans from eight faculties and representatives. Also present was Dr. Nurul Aplah Wizaya Syaputri, M.Biomed., Director of RSU Royal Prima Marelan.
During the meeting, both universities discussed several key agendas, including the signing of an agreement to establish a Confucius Institute as a center for Mandarin language and cultural development at UNPRI, as well as the planning of Joint Degree (1+2+1) and Short Course programs for students of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FAST) and the Faculty of Economics (FE). They also explored curriculum equivalence and academic cooperation to enhance international education quality at both institutions.
In his remarks, Dr. Abdi Dharma, representing UNPRI Rector Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes., AIFO-K., stated that UNPRI’s vision and mission align with YZNU’s spirit of innovation. “This collaboration is not only about academic exchange but also about building a bridge of knowledge between Indonesia and China. UNPRI is committed to becoming a World Class University, preparing students to excel academically and adapt to global developments,” he said.
After exchanging souvenirs, the event continued with a Campus Tour showcasing UNPRI’s top facilities, including technology laboratories, a podcast studio, and a visit to RSU Royal Prima Medan, UNPRI’s main teaching hospital. The YZNU leaders also visited the UNPRI Cultural Museum, expressing great enthusiasm for Indonesia’s cultural diversity and the university’s unique socio-technopreneurship concept.
Both universities agreed to implement the Joint Degree program and initiate research collaborations by 2027. “We are optimistic that the synergy between UNPRI and YZNU will become a successful model for higher education cooperation between Indonesia and China,” said Professor Wu Wen in his closing remarks. This collaboration is expected to open new opportunities for faculty exchange, joint research, and academic innovation in medicine, science, technology, and creative economy — strengthening UNPRI’s position as an Excellent, Leading, and Trusted International Partner University.
