FKKGIK UNPRI Holds Public Lecture: Building Smart Students

Medan – Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, Universitas Prima Indonesia (FKKGIK UNPRI), held a Public Lecture with the theme “Building Smart Students: Learning Ethos as a Reflection for Future Service, which was held at Hall Lt. 10 Main Campus UNPRI Jln. Sampul No. 3 Medan, Wednesday (10/30/2024).
The resource persons for the public lecture were Prof. Dr. (H.C.)., Dr. (H.C.)., dr. Ribka Tjiptaning, A.AK, guided by Moderator Dr. dr. Irza Haicha Pratama, M.K.M., AIFO-K. the activity was attended by 750 participants, attended by Vice Rector II, Dean, Vice Dean, Representative of Lecturers of FKKGIK UNPRI and students of FKKGIK UNPRI.
According to Prof. Ribka, the essential values of the mental revolution include the ethos of progress/work ethic, motivation to achieve, discipline, obeying the law and regulations, optimism, innovative and adaptive products, cooperation and mutual cooperation oriented towards public virtue and public welfare. "The concept of the mental revolution is the existence of a new life movement, perspective, then way of thinking and way of working," he said.
Prof. Ribka also gave reasons why Indonesia needs a mental revolution, among others because we have allowed dishonest practices in the nation for too long (we have lost integrity).
In the economic field, Prof. Ribka, Indonesia is far behind other countries, so that we have lost our work ethic. Then we experience an identity crisis. The strong character of Bang Indonesia as a nation that has a spirit of mutual cooperation, working together for the progress of the nation has faded.
"For that, in the concept of mental revolution we must start from a new life movement, namely a new perspective, a new way of thinking and a new way of working, so that we realize/achieve the goals of Trisakti," he said.
Prof. Ribka also explained the goals of the mental revolution, namely changing perspectives, mindsets, attitudes, behaviors and ways of working that are oriented towards the progress of the nation. Raising awareness and building an optimistic attitude in facing the future. Then realize Indonesia that is politically sovereign, economically independent, and has a strong personality, through the formation of superior new Indonesian people, implementing the values of integrity, hard work, and the spirit of mutual cooperation, so that the organizers of the State and Indonesian society are realized.
Representing the participants, one of the students dared to share his feelings. According to him, higher education has a crucial role in creating intellectual individuals who are not only academically intelligent, but also have good social and emotional skills.
"In this era of globalization, the challenges faced by students are increasingly complex. Therefore, it is important for us to equip ourselves with adequate knowledge and skills, so that we can compete in the world of work and contribute positively to society. I hope that after attending this lecture, we can all take valuable lessons and apply them in our daily lives, both on campus and off campus,” he said.
According to him, the active involvement of all participants in the session is very important. “Let's make the most of this opportunity by asking questions, discussing, and sharing opinions. Hopefully our togetherness today can be the first step in creating a young generation that is not only intelligent, but also has noble morals and is ready to face the challenges of the future,” he added.
