Medan, UNPRI – Prima Indonesia University (UNPRI) reaffirms its commitment as an excellent socio-technopreneurship-based IT university and a model for other private universities through the establishment of the UNPRI Professional Certification Institute (LSP-UNPRI). The main reason is clear: not all private universities, especially in North Sumatra, have their own LSP. Established in October 2020, LSP UNPRI is officially registered with the National Professional Certification Board (BNSP) based on an official BNSP license (Decree No. KEP.0798/BNSP/IV/2022, License BNSP-LSP-2105-ID). As an institution authorized to conduct professional competency certification according to Law No. 13 of 2003 on Manpower, it strengthens UNPRI’s role in preparing students to face global competition.
LSP UNPRI, located on the 18th floor of UNPRI’s Main Campus on Jalan Sampul No. 3, Medan Petisah, has 10 Competency Test Centers (TUK) and plays a vital role in conducting professional competency certifications for UNPRI students. It ensures that graduates possess not only academic knowledge but also practical skills and eventually receive BNSP certification, enabling them to be job-ready and competitive in the global workforce and industry. Currently, Dr. Abdi Dharma, S.Kom., M.Kom., FITPM, FITAR, AITSP, MCF., Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs and Information Systems, serves as the Head of LSP. He is supported by Hafiz Ramadhan, S.T., M.M., as Quality Manager; Six And Tri All to Nine Nainggolan, S.Pd., M.Pd., as Administrative and Finance Manager; Milka Rositi Sianipar, S.Kom., M.M., as Certification Manager; Yan Raja David Hamonangan Damanik, S.E., M.M., as Scheme Committee Chair; Falwan Rizky Gunawan, S.Tr.T, as Head of TUK; and three LSP staff members: Dikki Saputra Saragih, S.H., M.Kn., Felix Norman Tumanggor, S.Kom., and Evarida Br Tarigan, Amd., DS.
LSP UNPRI currently manages five competency schemes under its First Party (in-house) LSP category: Level 4 KKNI Industrial Entrepreneurship Scheme, Human Resources Section Head Occupational Scheme, Expert Accounting Technician Occupational Scheme, Customer Feedback Management Cluster Scheme, and Industrial Relations Dispute Settlement Arranger Occupational Scheme. These schemes will continue to expand as needed to cover all study programs across UNPRI’s eight faculties, including the Off-Campus Study Program (PSDKU) in Pekanbaru, Riau.
To obtain a BNSP certificate, each student must first undergo a competency assessment using the KSA concept: Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude. The assessment is conducted on the UNPRI campus by professional assessors. LSP UNPRI currently has at least 48 competency assessors who are always ready to assist. The purpose of this process is to evaluate and identify students’ abilities—both verbally, in writing, and through evidence—to ensure their quality and professionalism, and to determine whether students fully possess the competencies required in their field of work. These factors ultimately form the basis for deciding whether a student is eligible to receive a BNSP competency certificate, which is why students must take the process seriously.
After obtaining the BNSP certificate, students can be assured that they meet the required competency standards. The certificate opens wider opportunities in the job market, enhances competitiveness, and boosts confidence and credibility. However, students are encouraged to actively seek information and take advantage of opportunities to continue participating in further programs, continually improving their skills and knowledge to maintain their competencies. The BNSP certificate is awarded directly to students once they are declared competent. At LSP UNPRI, the issuance process generally takes between 2 to 6 weeks.
On June 16, 2025, UNPRI received a visit from the Central BNSP Chairman, Syamsi Hari, S.E., M.M., and Commissioner Prof. Amilin, S.E., AK., M.Si., who delivered a public lecture to thousands of students on the 10th floor of the main campus hall. They expressed appreciation for UNPRI’s commitment to establishing an LSP with complete facilities, professional assessors, and digital services, reaffirming UNPRI as a model university that introduces and equips its students early with superior BNSP certification.
