MEDAN (Portibi DNP): Dean of the Faculty of Law (FH) Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) Dr Tommy Leonard SH MKn together with the Muhammad Roman SH, Dr Mirza Nasution SH MH Team attended the International Conference in Lombok.
The International Conference which raised the theme 'Acceleration of Academic Transformation Asia-Europe of Law Faculty', was also attended by the Chairperson of the Indonesian Dean Cooperation Agency Prof Dr Runtung Sitepu SH MHum who is also the Chancellor of the University of North Sumatra (USU), together with Prof Dr Budiman Ginting SH MHum (USU).
The conference presented three speakers, namely Prof dr Antoine (Ton) Hol who is the Head of School (Dean) of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Utrecht and the chairman of the European Deans Association. Then, Prof. Ida Madieha Azmi PhD (International Islamic University, Malaysia) and the third speaker Hayyanul Haq SH LLM PhD (Faculty of Law, University of Mataram).
On that occasion, Prof. Dr. Antoine (Ton) Hol said that Law Graduates must master Legal Practice, Public Policy and Entrepreneur.
"The Faculty of Law must create Law Graduates who understand the development of law, economics, politics and entrepreneurship. In achieving this, the Faculty of Law Curriculum must be focused on legal knowledge, writing skills and negotiation skills, "said Prof. Dr. Antoine (Ton) Hol in front of the International Conference participants, Monday (22/2) in Lombok.
In between his presentations, Prof. Dr. Antoine (Ton) Hol reiterated that students must master legal practice, public policy and entrepreneurship.
As for Human Resources (HR), he said, it needs to be directed towards research (legal research).
Then, the second speaker, Prof. Ida Madieha Azmi PhD (International Islamic University, Malaysia) emphasized on strengthening academic cooperation in the Faculty of Law in Asia.
Meanwhile, the third speaker, Hayyanul Haq SH LLM PhD (Faculty of Law, University of Mataram) emphasizes the importance of the method and theory of coherence, which means to measure a truth, through research or research by publishing journals to the public, to achieve a Faculty of Law that is oriented towards research.
So, said Hayyanul Haq, the Faculty of Law in Indonesia can compete internationally.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Cooperation Agency for Deans of Law Faculties of State Universities (PTN) throughout Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Runtung Sitepu SH MHum when contacted by reporters via telephone said that the material discussed at this meeting concerned cooperation between the Faculty of Law in Indonesia and in Europe.
This meeting, said Prof. Runtung, was held in the context of the annual meeting of the Cooperation Agency for Deans of Law Faculties of State Universities throughout Indonesia.
On that occasion, said Prof. Runtung, the Faculty of Law in Europe was also introduced in order to cooperate with State Universities (PTN) and Private Universities (PTS) in Indonesia.
In this case, Prof. Runtung encouraged FH UNPRI to be more proactive in collaborating with Leading PTs both in Indonesia and in Europe.
"We hope that the results of this Conference can be followed up
by UNPRI, in order to establish cooperation with the Faculty of Law in Asia-Europe," said the newly inaugurated USU Chancellor convincingly.
The Dean of FH UNPRI, Dr. Tommy Leonard SH MKn, also conveyed the same thing, his party will follow up on the results of the meeting with a number of leading universities in Asia-Europe.
According to this young Doctor, there needs to be a change in the curriculum and curriculum development at the Faculty of Law in Indonesia, namely case-oriented learning (legal practice), by providing broad knowledge to students, both from law, economics, politics and entrepreneurship to produce law graduates who adaptive.
Tommy also said, it is necessary to design a Faculty of Law that is oriented towards research from various fields of science, not only law but also economics, politics, health and government science.P08
