"We believe that learning on campus that is continuously encouraged and enriched through dialogue through various perspectives will enrich students' understanding of health, especially nursing according to today's topic. This will be an opportunity to involve all parties who bring real experiences from around the world to the academic environment," she said when officially opening the public lecture.
Dean of FKK UNPRI Dr. Tiarnida Nababan, SST., S.Kep., Ners., M.Kep hopes that the knowledge gained today will be useful for and can contribute to our academic and professional development. "Thank you for your active participation and enthusiasm during this event. We hope to see you again in our next programs," she said.
Mrs. Chanell Jan Concepcion, PhD as Director for Nursing Education, Professional Development & Research July 2020 to date, said that there is a crisis of nursing personnel in the world "In 2023, the world will lack 5.8 million nurses. This is exacerbated by the incident of 1 in 3 nurses leaving their profession as nurses. It is estimated that in 2030 there will be a shortage of 11 million nurses. This requires commitment from all parties, which we hope can bring change in the future, "he added.
According to Mrs. Chanell Jan Concepcion, PhD, currently the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam still lack nurses. "The causes of the decline in the number of nurses in the world include population aging, migration to high-income countries, extreme and prolonged fatigue, both physically, emotionally and mentally, caused by chronic work-related stress. In some places, stress is also triggered by low wages and mental health," he said.
According to him, the impact of the shortage of nurses has caused difficulty in accessing health services (long waiting times to access health services), increased medical costs, and has an impact on economic growth due to a decrease in national output.
According to him, the condition of the shortage of nurses is exacerbated by less up-to-date health equipment and technology facilities, Leadership and Organizational Culture, Mental Health and Staff Support.
According to him, the key to the success of Nursing Engagement includes an emotional relationship where nurses must believe that their work is very important, the level of participation of nurses in decision-making, supporting the career growth of nurses, resilience or the ability to bounce back from difficulties, adapt well to challenges, and recover from stress. Then Organizational Alignment, which is the process of aligning various aspects in an organization, such as aligning nursing and institutional goals. "Nursing engagement is when nurses feel safe, supported, empowered, and inspired to give their best, not because they have to, but because they want to," she concluded.
The public lecture was attended by approximately 850 people, including the Head of the Nursing Masters Study Program, Dwight Mahaputera Marulitua Hutapea, S.Kep., Ners, MNS, PhD, Secretary of the Nursing Masters Study Program, Head of the Nursing Study Program, Head of the Midwifery Study Program, Lecturers and all Staff of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, Prima Indonesia University, All students of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, Prima Indonesia University.
