1000 FE UNPRI Students Attend Public Lecture “Digital Marketing Strategy

A total of 1000 students of the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Prima Indonesia (FE UNPRI), namely the D3 Finance and Banking Program, D4 Mandarin Business Communication and Professional, Bachelor of Accounting, Bachelor of Management as well as lecturers and structural officials of FE UNPRI, filled the Main Hall, 10th Floor, UNPRI Campus, Jln.Sampul No. 3 Medan, attending a Public Lecture themed "Targeting Customers Through Digital Marketing Strategies Based on Abraham Maslow's Theory", which was held on Monday (21/4/2025).

In the public lecture, two speakers were present, namely Dr. Drs. Saefudin Zuhdi MM, and a digital marketing practitioner who is also an alumni of FE UNPRI, David Afrido SM, and moderated by Permanent Lecturer of FE UNPRI Dede Ansyari Guci, SE, MSc, PhD, CDM, and opened by Dean of FE UNPRI, Dr. Fajar Rezeki Ananda, SE, MSM.

Saefudin said, the current digital marketing strategy needs to be really observed, be it about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) so that it is easy to find by search engines, Pay Per Click (PPC) related to advertising payments, communication via email marketing, distribution of sales via affiliate marketing, mobile marketing, analytics and measurement

According to Saefudin, the digital marketing strategy is still very relevant today driven by the Theory of Needs from Abraham Maslow. Because with the Theory of Needs, marketing knows in advance at what level of needs the customers will be targeted, so that the products offered are right on target.

"We need to know what level of needs our customers have, whether at the level of physiological needs, security needs, social needs, appreciation needs and self-actualization needs. This is the importance of marketing in creating customer profiling, so that the right marketing strategy can be produced to meet the needs of the customers in question," he said.

Asked about the benefits of digital marketing strategies, Saefudin said there were many, such as increasing visibility, increasing traffic, increasing engagement, increasing sales and increasing efficiency. "Therefore, it needs to be observed carefully, especially now that we are in the era of digitalization, it is very important to pay attention to and produce the right digital marketing strategy," he concluded.

Meanwhile, David Afrido explained, to produce good and correct content, it is important to focus on quality, relevance and originality. "Start by understanding your target audience, determine your content goals, do keyword research, and create a structured content plan. Avoid plagiarism and make sure the content produced is accurate and useful," he said.

As a digital marketing practitioner, David provides tips for developing quality and interesting content, including creating original content, focusing on creating strong headlines, being able to provide answers, being accurate in reporting and taking information, creating engaging content, communicating better, by adding images and videos, writing short and pointed content.

According to David, becoming a content creator is not difficult. David explained that a content creator is someone who creates, produces, and publishes various types of content such as videos, photos, writing, and audio on digital platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or podcasts.

The goal of becoming a content creator is to build a large and loyal audience, generate revenue from advertising or sponsorships, and build a reputation and expertise in a particular field.

"In today's digital era, becoming a content creator is one of the promising professions with great profit potential. However, to be successful in this profession, hard work, consistency, creativity, and knowledge of digital marketing trends and strategies are needed," he said.

David concluded that there are 7 tips for becoming a successful content creator, including determining goals, recognizing audience, consistently produce content, use social media platforms, be authentic, be diligent in interacting with the audience, continue to learn and develop.

In his speech, Dr. Fajar Rezeki Ananda Lubis, SE, MSM expressed his gratitude for the willingness of the speakers and asked the students to focus on absorbing the knowledge and experience of the speakers. "Our children, let's absorb the knowledge of the speakers our resource person, hopefully this public lecture can increase your insight into digital marketing, which is currently trending. This knowledge is very important, especially since there are digital marketing practitioners who are present and provide explanations and tips. I am sure that some of our students have become content creators. This profession is an interesting alternative for all of you young generations," he hoped. (RED/MBB)
