UNPRI Faculty of Psychology PKKMB 2025: Producing Competitive Graduates Amidst the Need for Psychology Experts
UNPRI encourages new Psychology students to be ready to face global challenges with academic and professional competencies.
UNPRI, Medan – The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) warmly welcomed new students of the 2025/2026 Academic Year through the Student Orientation Program (PKKMB), held at the Mini Hall, 10th floor of the UNPRI Campus, on Friday (September 20, 2025). The event was filled with enthusiasm and was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Dr. Sri Hartini, S.Psi., M.Si., representing the Rector of UNPRI, Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes. In her remarks, she expressed gratitude for the trust placed in UNPRI by new students. “Today, psychology experts are in high demand in many fields—not only in consultation offices but also in industries and workplaces that are becoming increasingly complex. With commitment to study, you will become graduates who are needed and who can contribute to the nation,” she said.
Dr. Sri Hartini, fondly known as Titin, added that the development of psychology remains highly relevant amid the dynamic challenges of human life. Therefore, she encouraged students to make the best use of their study period to be able to make meaningful contributions in the future. This aligns with UNPRI’s vision of socio-technopreneurship, which aims to produce graduates who excel not only academically but also in innovation and technological competence—graduates who bring pride to themselves, their families, their communities, and the nation. Her message was warmly welcomed by the new students, who attended with great enthusiasm.
The Faculty of Psychology at UNPRI continues to be one of the most popular choices in North Sumatra, as seen in the number of applicants despite tight competition among universities. Also present was Dr. Windania Purba, S.Kom., M.Kom., UNPRI’s Student Affairs Coordinator, who motivated freshmen to actively participate in campus activities. According to her, student engagement in campus life builds resilience, soft skills, and critical thinking—essential foundations for achieving future goals. “The journey to success begins with your first step in UNPRI’s excellent campus,” she emphasized.
The PKKMB program included the introduction of faculty structure, study programs, student activities, dress codes, and academic regulations that all new students must understand. In addition, sharing sessions and presentations on student programs enriched the participants’ knowledge of the many opportunities for organizational and extracurricular involvement during their studies. The activities were supervised directly by lecturers and senior students who guided participants from start to finish.
The event grew even more engaging with the presence of Consultant Education team member Bernard Ekarisman Ndruru, S.Fil., M.Psi., also a psychology lecturer at UNPRI, who delivered interactive and educational games. These were followed by other activities designed to foster togetherness, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills—highlighting the importance of collaboration in campus life. Dr. Bayu Pratomo, S.S.T., M.P., from UNPRI’s Ethics and Discipline Commission and Chair of the Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force (PPKS), also delivered a session on academic ethics and sexual violence prevention. He urged students to actively uphold integrity and create a safe, healthy learning environment.
Looking ahead, the Faculty of Psychology at UNPRI remains committed to developing its programs in line with the demands of the times. Currently, the Bachelor of Psychology program is preparing to open a Professional Psychologist Education Program, available to graduates from any university in Indonesia. With these developments, UNPRI’s Faculty of Psychology continues to strengthen its position as a leading center of psychology education, producing competitive, ethical graduates ready to meet global challenges.
