Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) held an Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) with the main theme "Becoming a Young Generation with Character and Maintaining National Values." This event was held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the UNPRI Main Campus Hall, Jalan Sampul 3, Medan City, with two different sessions, in the morning and afternoon. This year's UNPRI PKKMB presented special speakers, namely the Deputy Chief of Police (Wakapolda) of North Sumatra, Brigadier General Pol. Drs. Jawari, S.H., M.H.
Present at the event were the Head of the Higher Education Service Institute for Region I Prof. Drs. Saiful Anwar Matondang, M.A., Ph.D, Founder of UNPRI Prof. Dr. dr. I Nyoman Ehrich Lister, M.Kes., Sp.KKLP, Head of BPH UNPRI Dr. Tommy Leonard, SH., M.Kn, Deputy Chancellor 1 UNPRI Abdi Dharma, S.Kom., M.Kom, Deputy Chancellor III Dr. Said Rizal MA and the Deans and staff.
In his speech, Vice Rector 3 UNPRI explained that UNPRI has grown rapidly into one of the best Private Universities (PTS) in Medan City by offering 48 diverse study programs, including Diploma, Professional, Bachelor, Specialist, Masters and Doctoral. UNPRI has also obtained permission to open a Study Program Outside the Main Campus (PSDKU) at the Pekanbaru Campus with 4 Study Programs. All are run with a high commitment to the quality of human resources and the development of modern facilities and infrastructure.
He also highlighted the advantages of UNPRI as a multi-ethnic campus that is based on the principle of "Unity Network Prime Responsibility and Integrity," which allows students to experience an educational environment rich in cultural, tribal and ethnic diversity.

Your presence at UNPRI is the first step that will open the door to new knowledge, experience, and opportunities. This is an important moment in your academic and personal journey, which will help you prepare yourself to face the challenges in the world of work that await," said WR 3 UNPRI.
Meanwhile, the main speaker of the event, Brigadier General Pol. Drs. Jawari, S.H., M.H., emphasized the urgency of developing the social quality of students in North Sumatra. He invited all students present to understand and apply the values of unity, especially in the UNPRI environment which is known as a multi-ethnic campus. UNPRI, as a host for students from various regions of Indonesia in the Merdeka Student Exchange program, promotes cultural and ethnic diversity as one of its assets.
Brigadier General Pol. Drs. Jawari, S.H., M.H. also highlighted the role of students in building strong character and maintaining integrity as the younger generation who contribute to national development. He emphasized that UNPRI students have a great responsibility in maintaining and developing the nation's rich values, including the spirit of mutual cooperation, diversity, and love for the country. In this context, the Deputy Chief of North Sumatra Police invited UNPRI students to be role models in realizing positive changes in society.
Jawari continued, society and students currently need to adapt to various changes, to be able to realize a new order of advanced Indonesian society. "Pancasila and the principle of moderation are things that must be possessed by every citizen, as a foundation in carrying out a modern, advanced and civilized socio-cultural life," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of LLDikti for the North Sumatra Region, Prof. Saiful Anwar Matondang, explained that three sins that must be avoided in the world of education, namely, Intolerance, Sexual Violence and Bullying are things that need to be prevented and eliminated from educational units. In addition to having an impact on the physical, the three major sins of education will also have an impact on the psyche that affects the development of children.
Prof. Saiful invited all academicians of higher education to become tolerant people and avoid all forms of intolerance on campus. He said, there are three things that should not happen in the university environment, namely intolerance, drug and alcohol distribution, and bullying and sexual violence.
"These three major sins should not happen on campus. Efforts to respect each other and support each other to grow better must be developed on campus," he said.
In the second session, PKKMB UNPRI presented two UNPRI alumni who have played an active role in the health sector, namely dr. Evelyn Angie, M. Biomed, and dr. Wendy Warto Septianto.
The first sharing came from dr. Evelyn Angie, M. Biomed, who shared her experience,"Education at UNPRI not only provides knowledge, but also helps in holistic self-development. UNPRI has its own hospital that provides valuable experience for medical students. I really appreciate the balanced teaching approach between academic and non-academic aspects that UNPRI offers during my studies here."
In a nostalgic atmosphere, dr. Wendy Warto Septianto, an alumni of UNPRI class of 2009, shared her experiences about her educational journey at UNPRI. She reminisced about the old days when the university was still in the old Sekip Campus building. "The changes at UNPRI have been incredibly rapid," she said with a tone full of admiration. "I still clearly remember when we attended our lectures in that old building."
dr. Wendy emphasized how the strong foundation she built during her time as a student at UNPRI has greatly influenced her success to date. "The success of my journey so far, including in the health sector, is truly influenced by the values and skills I learned while studying at UNPRI. So, be an enthusiastic and diligent student, because UNPRI will provide many opportunities and valuable experiences in your educational journey."
In a separate place, the Head of BPH UNPRI told reporters, Monday (25/9/2023) that UNPRI is also fully committed to supporting the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. Tommy said that MBKM is the right breakthrough by providing opportunities for students to hone their abilities, according to their talents and interests by diving directly into the world of work, as preparation for their future careers.
In the spirit of innovation and independent learning, UNPRI is ready to welcome new students by implementing the Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka curriculum. This is a step taken by the university to provide a quality and relevant educational experience for new students, preparing them to face challenges in a changing world. UNPRI emphasizes the importance of strengthening the quality of education and character integrity, so that students can become young generations who contribute positively to society and maintain national values.
