BI, said Difi, as a central bank was established based on the mandate of Article 23 of the 1945 Constitution. And, the state has a bank whose structure, position, authority, responsibility and independence are regulated by law. "BI's task, in accordance with Article 8 of Law No. 23 of 1999 concerning BI, is a unity to achieve BI's goals," he said.
On that occasion, Difi said that in addition to circulating money, BI must also maintain the authenticity of money by eradicating counterfeit money. The ratio of counterfeit money findings continues to decline from 20 notes/1 million notes (2010) to 7 notes/1 million notes. In this case, said Difi, BI continues to improve the quality of rupiah money, so that it is not easily counterfeited. "BI also continuously educates and socializes the authenticity of money, so that people become more aware of counterfeit money, for example through 3D advertising," he said.
Difi also explained about monetary policy as the 'backbone' in achieving the goal of maintaining the stability of the rupiah. What is meant by the stability of the rupiah's value includes stability against the prices of goods and services reflected in inflation.
According to him, inflation is very important, because it affects people's lives. "Inflation will reduce people's purchasing power and increase poverty. Therefore, reducing inflation is the same as reducing poverty," he said.
Meanwhile, Dean of FE Unpri Cut Fitri Rostina SE MM said that this public lecture was intended for all FE Unpri students, with the aim of providing knowledge about Bl, which is related to the transfer of Bank supervision functions.
