The Specialist Medical Education Program in Ophthalmology is designed to develop clinicians who excel in ophthalmology, with competence in diagnosis, management, and operative interventions for various eye disorders and diseases in a comprehensive manner. Through Outcome-Based Education and Evidence-Based Medicine, supported by the latest diagnostic facilities and ophthalmic technology, the program prepares learners to become professional, precise, and globally competitive specialists who contribute to better eye care and vision quality.

Producing professional ophthalmology specialist graduates who are able to develop eye health service solutions based on community needs and demonstrate excellence in diabetic eye care.

  • Providing ophthalmology specialist education that produces professional, ethical, patient-safety-oriented graduates who are able to develop eye health service solutions based on community needs and have strengthened competence in diabetic eye care.
  • Conducting research in eye health, particularly diabetic eye care, to generate scientific evidence that supports clinical practice, service development, and the strengthening of eye health networks.
  • Conducting community service based on scientific reasoning and research findings for education, screening, early detection, referral, and strengthening of eye health services, particularly for diabetes-related eye problems.
  • Implementing the governance of the three pillars of higher education and study program resources through planning, implementation, evaluation, control, and follow-up, as well as partnerships relevant to education and eye health services.
  • Graduates of the Specialist Medical Education Program in Ophthalmology are specialists with professional competence in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of various eye disorders and diseases in a comprehensive manner.
  • Based on Evidence-Based Medicine, graduates are expected to provide high-quality eye healthcare services while upholding medical ethics and prioritizing patient safety and quality of life.

This program offers comprehensive ophthalmic training covering diagnosis, management, surgery, and rehabilitation of eye disease. Learners are mentored by experienced ophthalmology lecturers and consultants, gain broad case exposure in the university's own teaching hospital and partner hospitals, and are supported by modern ophthalmic diagnostic facilities, microsurgical techniques, cataract surgery experience, and strong academic development in research, publication, and collaboration.
