"Not Looking for Work Anymore! LLDikti Asks UNPRI Graduates to Create Their Own Job Opportunities"
The World of Work Needs New Leaders, Not Just Job Seekers
Head of the Higher Education Service Institute (LLDikti) Region 1 of North Sumatra (Sumut), Prof. Drs. Saiful Anwar Matondang M.A., PhD, advised the graduates of Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) that we are currently in a phase of uncertainty or another term called VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity), so to face this challenge, graduates must make various plans with high intentions and sincerity.
"Don't just hope to become workers, but must have a vision of opening up employment opportunities. All of that must be done with full optimism, and never give up when competing," said Prof. Saiful, while giving a speech at the graduation of UNPRI graduates period IV of 2025, Thursday (8/5/2025) at the UNPRI Main Campus, Jalan Sampul No. 3 Medan.
Prof. Saiful Anwar Matondang said that UNPRI has been appointed as the Center for the Development of Impactful Higher Education in the Health and Community Sector. As a mandate from the Ministry of Education and Technology, the MBKM Curriculum has changed to Impactful Higher Education, which means that universities must help village communities, MSMEs, health clinics and also integrated health posts, stunting problems and all kinds of problems that exist in the community.
"One of the mentors appointed by LLDikti Region 1 is Dr. dr. Ali Napiah Nasution, M.K.T., M.K.M., Sp.KKLP specifically in the field of health and society. This means that UNPRI becomes the mentor of all health study programs for talented lecturers to become researchers who will later be transformed into products that have an impact on society," said Prof. Saiful.
In addition, said Saiful, LLDikti always tries to facilitate the opening of the Specialist Doctor Education program until finally UNPRI has opened 4 specialist programs. "That way, the Specialist Doctor Education program will continue to grow, because so far Indonesia has had limitations in producing doctors with further education to the specialist level, where previously UNPRI had succeeded in opening a Bachelor of Medicine study program at PSDKU Pekanbaru with twists and turns that could finally be overcome. And this is a source of pride for all of us," said the Head of LLDikti Region 1 North Sumatra.
At the end of his speech, Saiful congratulated the graduates and their happy families. "Hopefully UNPRI will become a campus that successfully produces the most graduates who make positive contributions to the Nation and Country," he concluded.
Meanwhile, UNPRI Rector Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes in his speech said, the world is currently moving fast. Digital transformation, artificial intelligence, big data, and green economy have changed the landscape of the world of work. Many old jobs are disappearing, but at the same time, thousands of new job opportunities are emerging, ranging from information technology, health, creative economy, to social-technopreneurship.
"The world of work is no longer just looking for graduates who are academically smart, but those who are adaptive, innovative, globally competitive, and have lifelong learning abilities. Current trends show a high demand for multidisciplinary talents, who are not only technically proficient, but also have soft skills such as communication, collaboration, and leadership," said Prof. Chrismis.
The rector also said that based on BPS data and the WEF report, the health industry, digital technology, logistics, education, agritech, and Islamic finance are the most promising sectors for the next 5-10 years.
In response to this, Universitas Prima Indonesia continues to adapt by strengthening the outcome-based curriculum, increasing industry partnerships, and integrating technology into learning. "We believe that UNPRI graduates have the competency and character to take part in these opportunities, whether as professionals, leaders, entrepreneurs, or innovators," said Prof. Chrismis. The Chancellor also emphasized that UNPRI always strives to ensure that all of its educational programs are in line with the needs of the world of work and the development of the times. UNPRI has been active in various national programs such as Kampus Merdeka which allows students to study in industry, the business world, and social organizations. Then, the Kedaireka Matching Fund, as a bridge of collaboration between campuses and industry partners. Then, KIP Kuliah and LPDP Scholarships, to increase access to quality education for all levels of society.
In addition, there are digital transformation and sustainable campus programs, so that UNPRI graduates are ready to become leaders in the era of the 5.0 industrial revolution and green economy. "With the Excellent Institutional Accreditation that has been achieved, UNPRI continues to prove itself as a university with high standards and is relevant to national and global needs," said the rector.
The rector then entrusted UNPRI's good name to the graduates. "UNPRI's progress is not solely the result of the efforts of its academic community, but also because of the great role of its alumni. The success and achievements of these alumni are what we also believe make Universitas Prima Indonesia a destination for gaining knowledge for the wider community. The community needs your contribution in quality thoughts and real actions that are highly ethical and can be accounted for," said the rector.
Separately, the Head of BPH UNPRI Prof. Dr. Tommy Leonard, SH., M.Kn told reporters, Saturday (10/5/2025) that by holding the new title, the graduates now have new responsibilities that are higher than before, to be able to play a role and contribute to the people and nation of Indonesia. One of them is, concern for the problems of the Nation and State, as well as the advancement of Science.
Prof. Tommy also said that UNPRI does not only stop at achieving the accreditation of a superior university, but continues to carry out other developments, including opening a Study Program Outside the Main Campus located in Pekanbaru City, Riau.
This UNPRI graduation consists of various levels of education, starting from Diploma 3, Bachelor's, Profession, Masters, to Doctorate, led by UNPRI Chancellor Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes.
