UNPRI, Medan - Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) continues to demonstrate its commitment as a superior, adaptive, and innovative socio-preneurship campus by supporting literacy programs and promoting local culture. On Wednesday (06/08/2025), UNPRI, through Marketing Communications, represented by Datok Yan Djuna, served as a resource person in a Social Media Management Workshop at the Deli Serdang Regional Museum. This activity was carried out based on an official letter from the Deli Serdang Culture, Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office signed by the Acting Head of the Deli Serdang Regional Museum. Eko Supriadi, S.Sos., as part of the Learning Together at the Museum (BBM) program and UNPRI's public relations department.
The two-day event, with Muhdi Kurnia, S.Pd., another speaker, was present the following day. It aimed to strengthen the museum's role as a center for education, literacy, and a source of historical information, achievements, and the arts and culture of Deli Serdang. In addition to housing various historical collections, the museum also serves as a recreational and tourism destination open to all groups. In this regard, UNPRI fully supports literacy and digitalization, particularly in utilizing social media as a creative promotional tool that can reach the younger generation.
In the workshop, Datok Yan Djuna, who holds Certified Professional Digital Marketing (CPDM) and Certified Media Social Marketing Professional (CMSMP) certifications, combined theory with hands-on practice. Twenty participants from high schools (SMA/MAN) in Lubuk Pakam learned how to create engaging social media content to promote the museum, including podcasts, reportage, live streaming on TikTok, and creating reels for Instagram and Facebook. It is hoped that these various digital platforms will help increase interest in visiting the Deli Serdang Regional Museum when published, and possibly even go viral.
Before the workshop began, the event began with a focus group discussion (FGD) on the manuscript of the Mak Inang Pulau Kampai Dance, created by Guru Sauti, the legendary dancer from Pantai Cermin, Serdang Bedagai, whose works have achieved international recognition, including the Serampang XII Dance. The discussion was attended by the Acting Head of the Deli Serdang Culture, Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office, signed by Acting Eko Supriadi, S.Sos., and involved dance lecturers, practitioners, and cultural figures from Deli Serdang, Serdang Bedagai, Medan City, and Tebing Tinggi City. The half-day workshop was well-received and met with high enthusiasm from the participants, who not only gained new knowledge and insights regarding ethical social media management, but also had the opportunity to experience firsthand creative content production techniques relevant to current digital trends. At the end of the event, UNPRI presented souvenirs to all participants as a token of appreciation for their participation, which were warmly received by the museum.
Datok Yan Djuna, also known as a Malay culture broadcaster on RRI Pro 4 FM, expressed his appreciation for the program. He believes that good social media management is not only about creativity but also about ethical interactions in the digital world. "The Deli Serdang Regional Museum is a regional asset and pride, and it would be a shame if it didn't receive significant public attention," said Datok Yan Djuna.
Generation Z must be able to create and innovate while maintaining responsibility and integrity on social media," he continued. This activity is expected to be the first step in an ongoing collaboration between UNPRI and the Deli Serdang Regional Museum in promoting regional cultural heritage through digital media.
