The Supervisor, dr. I Nyoman Ehrich Lister, M.Kes, AIFM said, breaking the fast together with orphans from orphanages is a manifestation of one of the Tridharma of higher education, namely community service.
"In addition, this activity also shows how beautiful it is if we are able to share with our brothers and sisters from orphanages," said dr. I Nyoman at the Breaking Fast Together Event / Giving Ramadan Parcels to Orphans from Orphanages throughout Medan City, Thursday, August 1, 2013 evening at Unpri Campus II, Jalan Sekip Medan.
Present at the event were the Chairman of the BPH Yayasan Unpri Tommy Leonard, S.H., M.Kn, the Chancellor of Unpri Prof. dr. Djakobus Tarigan, AAI, DAAK, the Director of Royal Prima Hospital, dr. Deli Theo, SpPK, MARS, the Vice Chancellor I of Unpri Prof. Dr. drg. Monang Panjaitan, the Vice Chancellor II Ermi Girsang, SKM, MKes, the Dean of the Faculty of Technology and Computer Science of Unpri Abdi Dharma S.Kom, the Dean of the Faculty of Midwifery and Nursing of Unpri Chrismis Novalinda Br. Ginting, MKes, the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Economics Hendry, SE, the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Medicine of Unpri dr. Ali Napiah Nasution, the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Law of Unpri Theresia Simatupang, S.H., M.Hum., the Head of Public Relations of Unpri Ramli J. Marpaung, SH, MM, and Drs. H. Hilman Haidir, MPd as the Head of the Committee.
I Nyoman said that this kind of breaking fast event has been held every year at Unpri. "I always appreciate this activity. Therefore, I hope this activity can be a momentum for the Unpri family to continue to develop the spirit of sharing and caring for others," he said.
To the orphans from the orphanage, I Nyoman appealed not to feel discouraged, let alone give up. "You must be patient and steadfast in living this life," he said.
I Nyoman is sure that the children from this orphanage have high ideals and are successful. Therefore, the children must work hard, study diligently, and not lose out to others. "Remember, how many successful people in this world are actually orphans. Why can they? The answer is because they study hard and work hard," said I Nyoman while encouraging them.
Meanwhile, Unpri Rector Prof. dr. Djakobus Tarigan, AAI, DAAK, added, Unpri is a national-scale university that has experienced very rapid progress. Unpri is the only Private University (PTS) that has its own hospital. "Unpri has an international-scale hospital, namely the Royal Prima Hospital located on Jalan Belanga, Simpang Ayahanda Medan," he said.
Tarigan also said, Unpri is the only PTS in Sumatra that has a Faculty of Dentistry equipped with a Dental and Oral Hospital located on Jalan Pabrik Tenun Medan.
As we know, said Tarigan, that Unpri is a multi-ethnic university that receives equal treatment and learning opportunities.
In the same place, the Head of the Committee Drs. H. Hilman Haidir, MPd said, the breaking of the fast event was attended by 150 people. In addition to the Unpri extended family, orphans from 16 orphanages throughout Medan City were also invited, such as the Taman Pendidikan Islam Orphanage, Ar Ridho Orphanage, Jalan Gedung Johor Orphanage, Jalan Ismaliyah Orphanage, Darul Aitam Orphanage, South Medan Area, Jalan Setia Budi Orphanage, Mamiyai Orphanage, Putra Muhammadiyah Orphanage, Muhammadiyah Orphanage, Jalan Pinang Baris Orphanage, Pulau Brayan Orphanage, Putri Aisyiyah Orphanage, Zending Sisingamangaraja Orphanage, Bani Adam Orphanage, Rumah Anak Madhani, and Al Amin Medan Krio Deli Serdang Mosque.
Hilman also said that 15 students received scholarships for non-health faculties in 2012, with a total of 20 selection participants.
