Dr. Elvira explained that at a very young age for a faculty that was established in 2008, the Faculty of Law has made extraordinary achievements with the availability of 4 study programs: Bachelor of Law, Master of Law, Master of Notary and Doctorate Law. The Dean of FH UNPRI also said that UNPRI has opened 3 doctoral programs in addition to the Doctor of Law, namely the Doctor of Management and Doctor of Health Sciences, and has received the government's trust to manage the Primary Service Family Specialist and Radiology study program.
The theme of this public lecture, continued the Dean of FH UNPRI, is very appropriate considering that the human resources of the Faculty of Law are adequate and qualified from undergraduate to doctoral levels. Dr. Elvira has high hopes that students will be able to get learning from Prof. Dr. Amran Suadi related to legal education with integrity so as to increase the treasury of knowledge.
This public lecture activity is routinely carried out as an encouragement for students of the Faculty of Law in particular and the academic community of UNPRI in general
In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Amran Suadi who is also a Professor at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya emphasized that integrity does not only include intellectual intelligence (IQ) alone. Many people are smart, clever but corrupt, but their morals are bad. This is due to the lack of ability in terms of emotional/spiritual intelligence.
"Students in the current era, entering the industrial revolution 5.0 cannot just do Text Book thinking," said the Chairman of the Religious Chamber of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia, "In the future, law graduates cannot only rely on manual skills, but must be digital. Why do I say digital? Because it's already 5.0, digital, there is already AI, in the long run judges and lawyers can be replaced by robots. Therefore, law graduates must have broad knowledge and insight, broad big data so as not to be replaced by robots. Robots/AI do not have a conscience." Integrity is not only IQ but also emotional and spiritual
Entering the era of the 5.0 industrial revolution based on technology, all human life is practical, and this must be anticipated by universities and especially the Faculty of Law UNPRI to prepare its graduates with the competence to be competitive and compete.
"For UNPRI graduates, do not leave information technology, for example, now trials no longer have to be manual, but can be clinical trials with technology. Therefore, study programs must provide electronic law court trial laboratories," said Prof. Dr. Amran Suadi. He continued, "Students are required to learn CAT before graduating, because if they do not pass CAT they cannot become judges."
UNPRI is a proud campus so it must be able to ensure the availability of human resources with integrity in data processing, not only in the technical sector or memorization but more on critical analytical thinking, human resourceswho have integrity and adhere to ethical moral values. In relation to the Tridharma of Higher Education in the 5.0 era, legal education must be able to utilize digitalization applications. If we (Higher Education Managers) do not quickly anticipate and adapt, higher education will lose its cultural side. It seems more pragmatic and relies solely on argument than feelings or conscience.
"If we cannot uphold justice, there is no point in us studying law. Law is a tool for justice. Law is to uphold human justice, not merely to uphold the law. Law is a tool, made by humans." said Prof. Dr. Amran Suadi.
Then what is the position of legal education in the 5.0 era? The Supreme Court Justice emphasized several aspects, namely (1) increasing time in the laboratory or virtual court so that it is not just listening to the material (2) internship system through MoU with institutions such as the judiciary and the prosecutor's office (3) adding practical courses.
The event continued with a question and answer session by UNPRI students who enthusiastically attended the lecture. Some of the questions that sparked discussion included (1) How are law graduates preparing for the 5.0 era? and (2) Do robots have a conscience of justice?
