UNPRI Holds Training of Trainers
PKM Supervisor Training and Coaching Clinic: How to be a Pimnaser
The Student Creativity Program (PKM) is one of the programs of the Directorate General of Higher Education as an effort to foster, accommodate, and realize creative and innovative ideas from students. PKM has an impact on increasing student achievement and the achievement of Higher Education in the ranking of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. The final stage of the implementation of PKM activities is the National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS), as a national-scale forum for participating students from PKM and non-PKM pathways to present and communicate with each other through intellectual creation products.
Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) is one of the universities that plays an active role and participates in the implementation of this Student Creativity Program. To ensure the quality and creativity of students and be competitive in the PKM program, a supervisor is needed who is competent in the field and is able to provide direction and guidance in the process of preparing proposals to implementing activities and monitoring/evaluation.
In order to realize the improvement in the quality of lecturers, students, and the proposals produced, on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 UNPRI held a socialization activity, coaching clinic and proposal review which was packaged in the form of training "Training of Trainers, PKM UNPRI Supervisor Lecturer Training: How to Be Pimnaser" with speakers Dr. dr. Humairah Medina Liza Lubis, M.Ked.(P.A)., Sp.P.A, Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Muhammadiyah North Sumatra (UMSU) and reviewer of the Training of Trainer (ToT) program, Student Creativity Program. The event was held at the Main Campus Hall of UNPRI, Jalan Sampul 4, Medan City.
The event was attended by the Chancellor of UNPRI who was represented by the Vice Chancellor III for Student Affairs of UNPRI, Said Rizal, M.A, representatives of deans, heads of study programs, heads of bureaus, PKM supervisors and around 150 students and the UNPRI academic community.
In his remarks, Said expressed his appreciation to the speakers as representatives of DIKTI for the time and contribution of knowledge poured out, tips and tricks so that PKM UNPRI can pass to the national level, PIMNAS. As a university in cluster III, UNPRI has the right to upload 150 proposals. "We have high hopes that all 150 UNPRI PKM Proposals can pass, in accordance with the rules/guidelines from the Directorate General of Higher Education," said Said.
Through her presentation, Humairah emphasized that student guidance, including guidance in this PKM program, is one of the duties of lecturers. "As academics, lecturers have duties that are not only taking care of students, but student guidance is one part of the Tri Dharma of higher education," she said.
The proposals that can pass PKM have gone through a strict review process by reviewers, both in terms of administration, proposal substance, to novelty, sustainability and benefits of the program. As stated by Humairah, in 2022, out of 37,404 proposals uploaded, only around 1529 proposals from 309 universities received funding. One trick that can be done is to include proposals in PKM clusters that are still less in demand, such as constructive ideas.
"The key is creativity, which is the most important, then there is a scientific basis, because this is a lecture activity, and finally, the benefits and sustainability of the program," said Humairah. Compliance with the guidelines that have been explained in the guideline book is also important to note, considering that 70% of the selection and review process is administrative selection."
After the presentation of the speakers, the event continued with a question and answer session and review of proposals from lecturers and students to improve the proposals that have been produced.
